Ya gotta love the Y. One thing. I have noticed they cycle through the front desk employees pretty consistently, and the folks working there do sometimes seem a bit beleaguered, so I hope working conditions are okay. do Y workers have a union? Would they like one? Anyways, I do love the Y and miss when my good buddy used to work here. Shoutout the y!

Amanda is a very professional and caring customer service rep. She helped me resolve my account and handle my membership efficiently and was much more informed than who I spoke with previously

I love the University District and Meredith Matthews locations!! It’s not too crowded so you don’t have to wait around to use the equipment. The classes are led by great instructors who are knowledgeable and willing to answer your individual questions. A big selling point for me (and I’m sure others) is that ANYONE can feel comfortable working out here. For one thing, you don’t have to be fit to feel like you belong here (although I see super fit people here too). Another plus - the staff are friendly and very accommodating! Highly recommend!

I cannot rave about this place enough! The staff is unlike any YMCA I have ever been to. You want staff? You get a FAMILY! They are so willing to help out and give assistance and sometimes even do it without asking. The equipment is top of the line and the group classes are so fun! Not only are they fun, but they are structured in a way where you are still getting an incredible workout. I would give my left arm for this gym. It is a bright light in the overcasted and cloudy Seattle. Look no further because this place is the place you've been looking for. They also offer financial assistance for prices!

Seems like a pretty good place for me, so far. A basic gym with lots of machines and programs. Have to clean anything you touch & sweat upon, as the staff won't be doing it. Really wish they'll get water filters for the showers soon -- I don't going to work on my health somewhere then have to shower with chlorinated/fluoridated/toxicated water. Dry sauna is small and gets crowded and too humid, but at least they have one. The crowd is a broad spectrum of people -- not intimidating.

Not enough changing/cabana/showering facilities are available. Despite updates making the facility more accessible and gender neutral (great job) with all areas and changing rooms wheelchair accessible, at least one should be set aside for ADA use only (wheelchair users are often forced to wait for available restrooms occupied by able-bodied persons who have other options available but use those spaces assuming no one will need them urgently). Additionally, there is limited signage around the IMA and in the locker rooms providing directions regarding locker availability, locations of towels, pointing to the pool entrance, exits, etc (the layout is extremely confusing). Everyone is friendly. Overall, it's very accessible, but it just needs more signage and more fresh towels (better towels!), and possible a way to find out how busy certain areas of the gym are in real time.

I was absolutely shocked to discover that the sports complex has shared changing rooms for men and women. After getting out of the swimming pool, I went to my locker to grab all my things—backpack, makeup bag, jacket, sneakers—and started looking for an empty cabana to change. I was dripping wet, still in my swimsuit and wrapped in a towel, with my hands full, rushing around the changing room, trying to find an available cabana. But there were no available. And then, to make matters worse, my professor walked toward me. I was completely unprepared for this situation. It’s one thing to bump into someone you know at the gym, but it’s a whole different level of awkward when you’re wet, in a swimsuit and towel, and standing in front of someone who is supposed to be an authority figure in your life. This experience left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, and I genuinely believe shared changing spaces like this need to be rethought.

Really comprehensive gym, love coming here! My only critique is the air circulation is really bad! Weight and cardio room are very stuffy. It would be sooo improved if they would put large fans in the corner of the fishbowl and cardio rooms 🙂 the new pool is amazing and I think the co-ed locker rooms, are fantastic! I still have all the privacy I need, nice showers and changing rooms.

Simply a scam. There’s no women-only bathroom, weight room is almost always packed, no music , and the water tastes odd. On top, I tried to workout throughout the summer but you have to be in class or pay $85. I even work on campus throughout the summer but that won’t give us a gym pass. You may use the other student’s guest pass but you still have to pay $12 / visit. If university truly cared about students health and well-beings, why do you have to make it so difficult and money-greedy?

For a university with this much money, this gym is pathetic. There's no air flow so every room gets humid and hot, cleaning supplies are stocked half the time, staff are apathetic, it's not large enough for the student body and is crowded, and now there isn't enough showers to accommodate gym goers and swimmers. It's the only gym affordable as a student and it's been an incredible disappointment, year after year.
