One of the smaller and rougher Y's I've been to. Most of it likely has nothing to do with the employees, who seemed great, but with funding. What appears to be the old building is split into 4 different businesses now with the Y's main entrance being some little side door. The gym is absolutely diminutive, having one squat rack and one small cable crossover machine. It does have 2 benches but no incline and no shoulder press bench. Dumbbells go up to 100, which is fine, but not impressive for a Y. The entire strength training area (including nautilus/other machines) is maybe 1,000 square feet? Very small. It's basically a home gym. All of this is fine and not necessarily a complaint, just an observation that it's tiny. I do have a complaint, however, and that is that the one non-locker-room toilet that I saw is literally supported by a couple of 2x4's nailed together (see picture). Pretty rough. Will it hold? Well, it did for now. But it looks really awful and unprofessional. All-in-all this is clearly a failing Y that will probably be shut down eventually. It's sad, as it's the only one near Pottstown and it's in a great location.

Fitness equipment selection is ok. Place is clean and not crowded. Staff is generally professional. Convenient location if you live in Pottstown Weekend hours are not great. Locker rooms are old. Weight room is small. There is another more modern Y facility with better weight training equipment within a 15 min drive. I discovered Spring Valley when I learned of the early close times of this Y on the weekends.

Love this location and the entire team. From Seth, Katie, Lilly, Sarah, Kanijah, Nevaeh, Ashley and many MoRE! But one thing they need to do is get rid of the only unprofessional, unfriendly, looks like she hates her job, mean to kids and curses in the pool (I witnessed it) is Zoey. She brings a negative vibe in the front desk when checking in and in the pool side. I’d give this location a 10 if I could but this employee makes the experience that much horrible! She needs to find something she likes!

Staff member in the gym stares at people while they exercise. Despite regular leering, nothing was done about it and I switched gyms because of it. Now I can’t swim at my gym, but at least I can exercise in peace. I grew up going to the ymca and was disappointed that this was how they handled issues.

The summer camp program, working on my nerves, if you’re child is autistic, nonverbal go somewhere else, I feel like all staff members who works with children, should be trained to work with all children. I’m just waiting for them to say he can’t come back, so I can take legal action for discrimination, on a special need child.
