Solid gym. My favorite parts are the clean pool and hot tub. And they aren’t that crazy busy usually. I’m also a fan of their multiple locations with consistent service!

Disappointing Customer Service Experience I had an unfortunate experience at this gym today. To keep it simple, I have multiple gym memberships and wanted to downgrade my plan at this location. Upon arriving around 7 AM, I spoke to a very kind and friendly front desk representative. He did his best to assist me but informed me that only the store manager could handle plan downgrades or cancellations. I was surprised that employees aren’t empowered to manage basic requests like this, but I appreciated his respectful and helpful attitude. Honestly, he displayed better customer service than most managers I’ve encountered. The front desk employee told me the manager would arrive at 9 AM, so I waited. Unfortunately, the manager arrived about 10 minutes late, which I understand—traffic happens. However, when I approached her to explain that I wanted to downgrade my plan, the interaction went downhill. She repeatedly asked me the same question, “What plan are you downgrading to?” despite there being only two plans offered. I explained this clearly, but her tone and attitude were dismissive and rude, as if I didn’t understand what I was asking for. It was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional for someone in a management position to behave this way. What upset me the most was that, as soon as I told her to cancel my membership entirely, she suddenly understood my English perfectly and had no issue processing the cancellation. Her abrupt shift in attitude was disappointing and made it clear that she wasn’t interested in providing genuine customer service. Frustrated by her behavior, I canceled my membership on the spot. It’s disappointing that someone in a leadership position displayed such poor customer service. I feel bad for the employees who have to work under her, as they seem to genuinely care about their job and the customers. Overall, this experience was enough for me to never return to this gym, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. With so many other fitness options available, I’d suggest looking elsewhere where customer service is valued—especially from management.

Checked out the gym with a free pass. It was nice and clean, but super crowded at 4 pm. I couldn't even get into the sauna because there were so many people just standing around. I waited 15 minutes and still couldn't get in. All the equipment was packed too, so it was a struggle to get to what I actually needed. When I asked the front desk about prices and plans, the lady mumbled everything so fast I couldn’t understand a word. It felt like she wasn’t even trying to get me to sign up. Then she told me about this "amazing deal" that was supposed to be a once-in-a-million chance to sign up for an annual membership only today. Seriously? Who falls for that old trick? Plus, their plans don’t make much sense. The Classic and Premium memberships are pretty much the same price, and honestly, it feels like they’re overcharging compared to other gyms.

I wish this was a 5 star rating. The gym is incredibly well equipped, good location, should be 24/7 but operating hours are good enough tbh, staff are chill and helpful. My main gripes are two fold. One there are no way near enough sanitation dispensers, and the ones available are always empty even on a slow night. Second there is an IT issue with their computers, multiple times I signed up online only for the staff be unable to complete my registration and tell me to just go ahead and don't worry about it (thank you for that)

No customer service. I was told to come in person Saturday to be able to cancel my membership in person (“it’s the only way”) and then I drive an hour to get there for Carly and Mario to say I have to come back Monday and they can do nothing to support me because their operations manager will not be available to help on the weekends. I asked if we could leave some kind of note or sign a form since they had me make the drive today and they said “nope we can’t”. Awful communication and customer service.

City Sports Club in Hayward is a well-equipped gym. Attendance is inconsistent, with some days being crowded and others very empty. Cleanliness also varies, with some days being spotless and others less so. The main issue is the staff: some employees are very friendly and efficient, while others are not. Despite this, it’s a good place to work out.

Every city sports I went to has dirty shower’s, clumps of hair all over the women shower’s wall and floor, black mold on the walls and curtains rust grown shower heads. They sauna have food and paper towels that grown women leave behind cause their to lazy to throw their trash away. As much as the charge and overprice there members you think they at least can CHANGE OR GET NEW CLEAN SHOWER CURTAINS.

Has big sauna place and huge activity area for cycling and ball courts. Get your membership today. It also has a muscle bar.

Most of clients pay annual fees, Waterworld clients pay only 1/3 of membership fees, showers are used by the second guesses and themselves, living the area deplorable, from napkings to hair, locker areas the same. They have showers in the pool area but , the Waterworld And every other equipment it's out of order STAFF ITS VERY NICE RESPONSIBLE, AND RESPECTABLE.

Been a member since shortly after it opened in Union City. The place has gone downhill as of the review in 2024-04. The elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, etc. were old when they opened (the phone connections on the machines are for iPhone 4’s or 5’s); the covers of the weight benches are crappy, worn, and torn; the carpets are worn down with tape applied to them; and I could go on… The people working there are friendly and helpful. Although, the carpets and floor need attention from the cleaners. There is generally enough equipment, but you may need to wait for a bench, weight machine, or space to do your routine. They offer spin classes and aerobic classes as well as having trainers with whom you can work with. Overall, an okay place to work out, and spending a few thousand dollars on maintenance would benefit the look and feel of the place.

I'm gonna be honest here - I can't justify giving this place more or less than 3 stars because I've only been a member here for 2 days, but I can say a few things; Staff seemed a bit too eager to make a sell. (I know it's their job, but I'd like to you know...try the gym out before jumping on board) which was not an option. There is a ton of machines here, and free-weights, bench-presses, squat racks, etc which is great - but the thing is this place appears to always be jam-packed. I like to work-out early in the morning, so I may just hold onto my planet fitness membership, since it's quite empty there early mornings, and then see if this place grows on me after a few more weeks. One last thing, (not that this is a pro/con against the gym itself) but the people here are largely serious about working out. I'd say 75% of the people in the gym at any given time are there to do business, not play around.

Disappointed with Gym Culture and Cleanliness I visited City Sports Club at 24500 Hesperian Blvd, Hayward, CA, for the first time today. I live nearby, so the location is convenient, and I signed up for a membership yesterday. My initial experience started on a positive note—the lady at the front desk was incredibly sweet, helpful, and joyful. Her customer service was excellent. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill from there. The gym culture at this location is messy and unhygienic. Unlike Crunch Fitness/Planet Fitness, where members consistently clean up after themselves and wipe down equipment, this gym seems to lack those basic standards. Many members here use equipment and just walk away without cleaning up. The weight setup also left a lot to be desired. While the gym has a lot of machine weights, it seems heavily focused on them and lacks variety in free weights. There are only three squat racks, which is very limiting for anyone focusing on strength training. To be honest, I’m glad I didn’t choose this location as my home gym. My job takes me past the City Sports Club at Whipple, and I’ll be trying that location tomorrow. Based on this visit, I likely won’t return here unless I’m only planning to use the cardio machines/Sauna room. This was a disappointing experience overall.

Gym has gone down hill in the last 9 months. Broken and worn out equipment. Lots of equipment has ripped seats. Dirty bathrooms, no cleaning equipment on the weekends. Basically everything I left Planet Fitnes for

Basic repairs have taken a long time lately. They have been 2 bikes and 2 treadmills out of order since October. There is plenty of cardio so I don't think it has bothered enough people to complain. 2 of the biggest issues with the amount of torn upholstery across the weight machines and benches. Technically this is a OSHA violation as bacteria grows in the padding when the vinyl is ripped. There is a bench completely missing a mid back pad that can lead to injury. Club should definitely purchase 3 more olympic bars. There are 3 squat racks, 3 flat benchs, 2 incline benches, 1 decline bench and 1 shoulder press. There are only 7 bars so people constantly move a 7ft bar around the gym to work out. You would think with New Years crowds coming in there would be an attempt to repair obvious visual issues along with out of order equipment.
