I have really grown to love this place! They seem to be constantly updating and upgrading their equipment, have everything needed for serious strength and cardio training, and everyone who works here is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! Happy to give it five stars but also love that it’s small and not too busy—so don’t all come at once! :)

West park was kind enough to triage my pet into their emergency services while I corresponded with them from home due my cancer surgeries that week. It’s not an unreasonable ask given every patient’s/owner’s situation isn’t as black and white as being able to wait hours while the pet waits their turn for care or while more serious cases as they should be, are treated. While the $504 in testing and exam fees was helpful in ruling out her symptoms being related to her pre-existing cooper storage disease, we ultimately got no diagnosis or treatment for her worsening secondary symptoms - just another something that might work. I was in a very vulnerable spot having just been discharged from the hospital that day after having 13 hours of surgery that week. Doctor Mike provided poor care to my dog and in my opinion is a poor practitioner. Why? 1) She got no definitive diagnosis 2) I had to call him back to ask him to address treatment for the obvious secondary symptoms he neglected (her raw inflamed skin) caused by the initial bowel issues. 3) He didn’t even have the decency after I called back to ask about her raw skin to provide her with any topical treatment to give her relief during her exam. He did nothing but tell me what to buy. It’s clear they don’t understand the point of paying the hundreds of dollars is in exchange for your pet to actually get a diagnosis, and that your animal is supposed to get the treatments to feel better for their symptoms/ they needed after care WHILE they are at the hospital. They just expect to get paid loads for going through the motions. It’s highly unethical to take large amounts of money from people and in exchange provide such a paltry quality of care. I’ve found if you voice your warranted frustrated respectfully, they’ll do an even worse job caring for your pet because they are more concerned about being called out on the obvious holes in their operations, communication and practices then actually caring for animals. Sadly the clear reality is as they grown they’ve proven time and time again they merely expect to get paid while providing bad veterinary care. If they actually cared about your pet they would show it in the type of treatment they administer. It’s that simple. Lastly, to top it all off, I kindly asked the receptionists for two basic things while discharging when 1) if they could have the nurse put a disposable diaper on her so she didn't have an accident on the car ride home 2) For the physical copy of test results so I could review her liver values and then send the results to her specialist. Both seem like pretty obvious standard tenants of care for $500 but I knew from previous visits if I didn’t ask they wouldn’t do it. Pathetically, they followed through on neither. I’d been going there for years and unless you hold their hand, advocate for every single obvious single step along the way your pet will get crappy care. I can’t understand why they take no shame in how consistently and obviously bad they are. The ultimate disgusting reality; they still have gotten richer, have built a bigger facility that they aren’t even skilled enough operationally, administratively or medically to use to actually provide relief to the animal - WHICH is the whole point of running a veterinary hospital. The last two times I have been, both triage people have complained how bad their computer network is and were clearly frustrated in trying to execute the basics of doing their job due to the poor resources they have. The one triage person didn’t even know the email address to send medical records to after stating she’d been there for almost a month. One time i went there and my dog sat in a cage for hours because they discovered the machine to perform her surgery was broken after I brought her in. Skip this nightmare of a facility if you care about your pet and go to Tremont Animal or Rocky River animal hospital instead.

My daughter has taken swim lessons for over a year at the Westpark YMCA and she is THRIVING! The teachers are supportive and caring, and the whole staff is excellent. At 4 years old she can swim by herself—all because of the great staff. 10 out of 10!
