Warning: Toxic Work Environment I recently left Bronx House due to concerns about management practices. While the organization's mission is admirable, I encountered issues with transparency, communication, and leadership. Specifically, I raised concerns about a Director qualifications, experience, and ability to support staff. Unfortunately, these concerns were not adequately addressed. I'm worried that personal connections may influence decision-making, compromising the organization's effectiveness. Bronx House needs a thorough examination of its structural issues to better serve its community. High turnover rates will persist without systemic changes. Prioritize accountability, transparency, and staff well-being I hope future stakeholders will prioritize accountability, transparency, and staff well-being. Shocking: Bronx House has failed every single DYCD site visit in the past 3 years. Yet, they still receive funding. To DYCD: Reevaluate funding for an organization that consistently fails to meet standards. Concerning: Talented staff leave due to unsustainable working conditions. Without systemic changes, high turnover rates will persist. Specific Concerns: • Leon, Howie, Madonna, and Marie foster a toxic environment. Their behavior and management styles need scrutiny. • Board of Directors: It's time for change. Oversee reforms and hold leadership accountable. To potential employees: Beware of the toxic environment. You deserve better. I no longer work here, but I hope my review helps others make informed decisions.

Horrible. Nobody picks up the phone. If your child goes here it's a crap shoot to get in touch with anyone. Phone reception is disturbingly rude. They hang up, don't pickup,...no organization. They have seriously declined from how great they once were. Don't send your kids here. Nightmare

My kid has attended the swim & dance classes here for over a year. The staff have been great thus far. Always professional & respectful. The dance instructors are patient & make the classes fun and exciting. The swim instructors are energetic, encouraging and very engaging with the kids. The new director is impressive. You can see he has a genuine interest in making things better. He has presented new ideas that I believe will help improve the program. On the flip side I can see the facility has seen better days. The building could use a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint as a quick fix. However I do hope in the near future they either renovate the building and or fix the much needed repairs and update the antiquated paper system.

My family loves the Bronx House. They have a new swimming director who is wonderful with the kids. All the teachers we have had have been great here. The performing arts program is top notch. My kids have taken many dance and music classes and all have been excellent teachers. My husband and I recently started taking private music classes as well. The Bronx House is the best!

My daughter comes here for swimming she loves it , this is her 3rd level in swimming. She also goes to vacation camp and is attending this 2023 summer camp. I never had an issue here. I love what they offer. I wish there was more communication though, last week class was canceled & I was not informed. Overall does need a little update, BUT THE FACT that THEY OFFER SO MANY THINGS for the community who cares. The prices are fair!!

More of a senior club. I love it. People are very friendly. Staff are overall helpful and patient. The y is always clean and being cleaned by staff. Well equipped and low pressure. Classes are competitive, so try to book long in advance.

I went and I learned how to swim, there's a big and small pool, small pool is 1 ft for smaller kids and the big one goes from 3 ft to higher. I recommend, however it's quite pricey. if you can pay for it you have no problem. When I'm in the Bronx I don't feel very safe since there's a lot of sketchy people but here there's no sketchy people and you would need an ID and passport and more so it would be safe to make sure you can be allowed here. I would recommend definitely.

I have been a YMCA member since the summer of 2024 and my complaint is that I do not understand why they close the gym on weekends at 3:00 p.m. I think it is too early because those are the days that I can go in the afternoon and I also pay $58 a month which I think is very expensive for being something from the community. In addition to the holidays that they close, depriving you of the use of it. You cannot complain to management because they easily tell you to go somewhere else as if you are nothing to them. I think they should do something with the management of YNC Castle Hill because many like me who pay $58 a month, $696 a year, it is not fair that you cannot complain about something that you pay for, which is one more bill every month. I use the sauna and it has been damaged since the summer and no one does anything to solve it, they only tell you to go somewhere else. I hope the top executives of this place do something soon. I know it's a non-profit place, which is why it should have a cheaper price because the Bronx community is not a high-income community. Thank you.

The staff sincerely makes everyone feel like they belong . Class instructors are professional and friendly. Facilities and offerings are great. Recommend for everyone individual or the family. Beautiful views to watch while you work out and the outdoor pool is a huge bonus for the summer months.

I called the YMCA in Castell Hill. Ms Martha provided me with all the information for the Aqua Aerobics classes. My Orthopedic recommended me to use the pool to better my bilateral knee surgery. It is a great place. The staff is outstanding even the house keeping staff is excellent. I love to go to the YMCA. Hopefully I can use some other areas of the yMCA.
