I have been coming to the Lohse Y for lap swimming since 1995. I have never in all of these years experienced what is happening now with the pool. It is a fabulous pool and many people want to use it. All the Y's across the city have adopted a new policy of closing all the pools at 11am M-F with no hours for the swimmers who used to come on their lunch hour between 11am and 1pm. This results in forcing a large amount of daily swimmers to cram their usual 45 min to one hour workout swims into the five hours in the morning when the pool is open. In addition to the limited hours five months out of the year, the new policy is have 4 people circle swimming in each lane. They also have water aerobics classes five days a week for one hour of the five they are open, so during that time there are only four lanes available for lap swimming. This is not enjoyable. I cannot recommend joining this y for the purpose of using the pool. My husband and I, who are both long-time lap swimmers at Lohse Y, are looking into swimming at other facilities We may possibly quit going to this Y entirely because the cost of the monthly parking may be too much when we can't use the pool. This decision is with a heavy heart after 30 years loving this Y. They recently remodeled the pool and in our opinion it has been one of the best lap swimming pools in Tucson. It is truly a shame that the citywide pool director has chosen to turn it into a treadmill of a water workout room.

I'm a Y member visiting from Virginia. My family & I do zumba back home and wanted to keep our fitness activity going here. We attended Diana's zumba class. She was terrific! She was high energy and the routines were fairly easy to follow and fun to do. We very much enjoyed her class, and will try to attend another of her classes before we leave.

I don't go to the Y, but my parents faithfully go to the one in Virginia for Zumba. They are visiting here in town, and we decided to try a Wednesday Zumba night. The instructor, Deanna, is new. Really? Well, she's very good. I picked up really fast from how she led the dance class. Yes, it was that impactful for me to write this review, considering how happy my parents, really my Mom, were. 1st timers, too!

My boys wanted to join the Y for the basketball court and the staff is super warm to them even when I'm not around. Belina signed us up and has been super gracious to us ever since. She treats you like family and makes sure you are taken care of. The staff culture is by design and not by default, great job management!

The Lohse Family YMCA is hands down the best in the city. The staff there is absolutely incredible - they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The new equipment - it's top-notch. You won't find a friendlier bunch of people anywhere else. l've been a member for 19 years and would never even consider going anywhere else. Seriously, I love this place. Trust me, you need to check it out. R.Garcia

Low quality at a high price. That's all you'll get by joining this "fitness center". The weights are older than time itself and the machines are atrocious. Treadmills are often broken and run down with parts falling off of them. The ellipticals have literally had their side panels snap off during use. Super dangerous! The food is gross and their new plug for protein shakes is a joke. High sugar low protein and a high cost. Anything attempting to be healthy comes out so sad and of the lowest quality. Such as the salmon dish that looks like it's been frozen since the 90s. The courts for racquetball are terrible and falling apart. Some have massive holes in the walls. The locker room is falling apart and has roaches. In fact, most of the facility has roaches. The sauna is often broken or turned all the way down. The steam room doesn't work properly and is often broken. The pool and both Jacuzzis typically have too much chlorine. They are often filthy from all the children. The Friday night frozen over priced BBQs don't help with the mess and crowded environment. The facility claims it's making changes and trying to improve. Unfortunately most things are dirty and falling apart and stay that way for weeks to months. Like the stairs. They keep upping their prices and added a yearly fee. Not to mention they often over charge your account and you need to take it to them personally. Front desk staff dont ever know and the membership office workers aren't their for hours at a time. This place is a joke and should be torn down to be rebuilt into something realistic. Don't get stuck here and don't waste your money.

Dropped in at TRFC to use the sauna and steam room while I was in Tucson for a USAW Weightlifting meet. Facility is clean and in good repair. Older decor looks like it’s getting ready for an upcoming renovation. Outdoor lap pool looked awesome. I’d go again when I’m in town. Recommended if you’re more about function than high end chic.

I have been a member @ the tucson racquet club for about 15ish years now. I feel like ever since the new management came in theres been a neglect for the weight room in specific. Last night I came into the weight room around 9pmish and unsuprisingly there was a group of probably ten juviniles in that weight room. They were loud screaming shouting hoopering and hollering. I am actually educated in fitness as it is my career, and I know for fact the weight room is not the place to be messing around as you will hurt yourself or even worse hurt someone else. People were leaving the weight room last night it was so bad. As far as I am concerned I'm done with the weight room it just seems like management does not care about the safety of people that use their weight room proven by the fact they do nothing when the youngsters come up stars to just play around and throw weights around and just play. They also have very faulty equipment. I really wish MANAGEMENT would change their attitude about the weight room and kick out the people who are obviously there to not be serious what so ever. I don't want to get hurt. Also theres an elderly lady that works at that front desk that just always be talking so rude to people.

I have been a member and tennis player and swimmer for years. I wholeheartedly disagree with the litany of complaints that one of the reviewers had. The facility is always welcoming with lovely staff, things are organized, clean, and if they are not they are addressed immediately, and that includes the pool and the Jacuzzis.the club brightens my day every day and I am so grateful for all the care that is being taken: refurbished tennis courts, scheduling of swimming, which is not perfect but at least innovative. A little work can be done on the quality of restaurant food. The barbecues are fun and social for those who want it. I have nothing but good things to say about TRC. Barb Patterson

Real effort to upgrade & improve this place. Great people, lots of new pickleball courts, good gym, nice coffee shop. Good value.
