When I visited the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA on Monday morning, I was surprised and disappointed by the treatment I received. The older lady at the front desk told me directly, “The system is telling me you don’t belong here… you lost your privilege.” She repeated, “You don’t belong here,” making me feel completely unwelcome. If this message was truly coming from the system, it’s a serious problem. But if these were her personal words, then it’s an even greater disappointment. Despite being a nationwide member, I was treated as though I needed to justify my presence. Although they eventually confirmed my membership and allowed me to enter, the experience felt humiliating from the start. The YMCA is supposed to offer a welcoming environment for members across locations, and this branch did not meet that standard. It was overcrowded and offered no special amenities to justify such treatment. I expected more from a YMCA.

A terrible experience—those receptionists were blatantly racist, rude, and completely unreasonable. They should go back to school to relearn manners and cultural respect. Moreover, my ID is my private property. Taking it and scanning it without informing me of the reason is illegal. When I requested my ID back, the receptionists refused and forcefully scanned it. It’s hard to believe this is happening in the United States. This is the worst YMCA branch in Pittsburgh

We really enjoyed it here. The design on the building is really thought out. At least in my mind. I love the different change rooms boy, men's, girls, woman's, and family. I liked the pool layout for kids area, therapy pool and lap pool with acces through the kid area for those needing a ramp to get in. The change rooms are nice and it's clean. Friendly staff. Great stop on our road trip. Edit to add to review. We traveled to many YMCAs during our trip and made time to ensure we came back here. Of all the Ys we went to. This was our favorite. Again it is clean, it is well thought out, it is just a nice facility. I know some reviews say otherwise but I'd say visit some other places and other Ys. This one is a gem.

Have been here for birthday parties. Tried book my daughter's birthday here for the past 2 weeks over the phone. Consistently getting voice-mail. Leaving voice-mail did me no good as I never received a call back. I went in person and the woman I had to speak with was in a meeting. The front desk took down my name and number and I still never received a call.

I took my baby here to swim for the very first time, the pool was empty and the lifeguard would not let me take a single photo for my son's scrapbook. The lifeguards are on a power trip. As a lifeguard myself I thought this was crazy especially in a empty pool.
