This is the best new gym in all of Manhattan. It’s architecturally beautiful but more importantly the build out is perfect. The workout space is perfectly hidden away from the climbing (not to mention super bright and lovely). If you are just into climbing or just looking for a regular gym - this place fits both. The co-working space is unmatched. You are surrounded by a ton of plants, huge windows, open space, and what I think is going to be an awesome cafe. This is seriously an unbeatable gym, plus the price is so dang cheap for what you get. A++ Oh and included in the membership are yoga, cycling, and other classes. The rooms for these classes are jaw dropping.

This is an excellent climbing gym with a wide range of first class facilities. The space is large and the route setting is creative. I have climbed at around 50 gyms in 20 countries, and this place was double the price of the next most expensive gym I’ve climbed in. I’ve climbed in gyms of equal quality for USD15 in Australia and USD10 in Europe.

Awesome climbing gym with a really nice weight area. Way more showers and bathrooms than the Williamsburg location. Also feel like there’s more table space to do work/eat/hangout. Personally, I prefer the bigger space and extra bathrooms/showers LES offers compared to the Williamsburg location. The only thing’s Williamsburg has that LES location doesn’t/lacks is: - sauna - aerial classes - rooftop climbing - WillyB cafe has more food options

I attended the Intro to Bouldering class on 11/14 with Will Keith to learn more about technique and form and was very impressed! I felt that this gym, and the amenities provided, with the solid instruction and friendliness of staff, makes this gym absolutely worth it. I hope to stop by again soon!

It features highly modern and well-maintained facilities, with climbing walls of appropriately varied difficulty levels. Best of all, there’s a café upstairs, making it a perfect place to work out and spend time.

I have been going to this Lifetime location for a few months now and overall have enjoyed my experience! I recently did a few personal training sessions with Chase and highly recommend him as an instructor. He was very helpful and patient, teaching me new workout routines with clear explanations and encouragement. Being someone who doesn’t typically use a lot of different machines at the gym, Chase made me feel comfortable trying new things. He tailored our sessions to my fitness goals, and I’ve already noticed progress after only a few sessions!

Nice gym but I would expect more for the membership cost. Main complaints: - Not enough bikes. Only of the 4 stages bikes (and 1 has a bad seat) and they are always full during peak hours. They should move some bikes from the cycle studio to the main area. The bikes in the cycle studio aren't available when there is a class, but the classes usually aren't full. - They have a group classes every morning and it they take up a lot of space, most of the treadmills and open area. - Not enough squat racks and cable machines, these are almost always full during peak times. - Not a well laid out gym, there isn't enough floor space for stretching.

5 stars ONLY for Tues & Thurs GTX morning with Shaimane and decent sauna in women’s locker room. Otherwise, 1 star for poor customer service, esp for the ridiculous membership fee. Rented a locker for $100 a month that was filthy and dusty. Have to cancel with a 30 day notice EXACTLY one month before on the day, cannot request advance cancellation. Ridiculous, poor, inconvenient, and not worth it. Disappointing.

For my first time at a Lifetime Gym, I'm not particularly impressed. Long story short, the building/machines are nice and well-maintained (for the most part), but the little details aren't being kept up. Hoping that the Wall Street and Midtown locations are a bit nicer. Cons: 1. Little things like the quality and finish of the hair dryer. I don't expect a Dyson, but this is a hair dryer you'd find in a $99/night hotel. Both of the units in the men's locker room also had very visible wear, and the speed settings were completely worn off. 2. The "cleaning station" at the incline bench press was a bottle of hand sanitizer and paper towels, no sanitizer bottle to be found. At another part of the gym, there was the standard "wet nap" style of wipes, but I didn't bother trying those. 3. Towels are visibly old and pretty thin. They're either so old they've started to yellow, or they're being dried on too high of a heat by whoever cleans the towels. (I didn't see an in-house laundry for them, but I didn't check too hard.) 4. There was a lot of random empty space. The #/type of machines they had was above average for a normal gym, I'd say similar or better than an average Equinox. That said, I feel like they could be using the space they have more efficiently, with a potentially even greater variety of machines. 5. The locker room is decorated nicely, but it has lots of little nooks and crannies, I'd imagine it's not fun to clean. That said, when I came today around 230pm, there was a not insignificant amount of hair in the little nook I selected. The locker itself was pretty clean, and the vanities were a bit messy/hairy when I arrived but were cleaned by the time I was finished with my workout. 6. Pretty small hot tub, no cold plunge or ice bath. I didn't bother testing it today, but my initial impressions of it were middling. 7. Beautiful stairwell leading up to the gym, but the color/style of the marble and lack of friction tape made it a bit precarious going down it. I assume it’s ADA, but visually was a bit hard to tell as I was going down where each step ended. Pros: 1. All of the staff were/looked friendly. The woman at the front desk was professional and very smartly dressed. We had to wait ~10 minutes for a membership advisor to get my membership activated because I'm signed up to be a founding member of their midtown location, though that wasn't her fault and she handled it well. 2. Once I was in contact with the membership advisor, he was very knowledgeable and helpful, was able to answer my questions about this and other locations, and got me processed quickly. 3. Being able to use the InBody any time I want will be very nice; TMPL/Equinox had them available for a price/with personal training. 4. Lockers were large enough and deep, combo-style, no issues. 5. Men's steam and sauna were large and got hot. Steam room needed to be cleaned when I used it around 3pm, but it wasn't dirty enough for me to not want to use it. (I'm not sure if it had been cleaned that day yet.) I wasn't convinced about the "press for steam" style vs the timer initially, but it eventually filled the room with steam nicely, so I'm a fan. 6. All of the plate-loaded machines in the weight training area had plenty of plates. It was obvious that someone took the time to load/sort the weights on each machine, which I really appreciated. This was just my initial impression of the gym, I’ll give an update after a few weeks to see how consistent things are.

Lots of equipments here and it has a pool with 3 lanes. I hate the sauna in this location, always have a bunch of people come in fully clothes with sneakers and headphones on. The maintenance people worked so hard here and they really do a good job but members are honestly ill-mannered

I got injured at Michaela McGowan’s spinning class due to her negligence on how to use the bike properly. She gave zero instructions on the equipment prior to the class and rushed me out of the room after my injury. The gym manager Jill has been helpful but the instructor Michaela has taken absolutely zero responsibility in addressing the issue, not even an apology - definitely not the experience anyone would have wanted.

Used this gym since moving to the area in 2022. Trainers and staff are wonderful, very friendly, always happy to chat and make me feel welcome but unfortunately management spoils it. I would visit during off-peak hours specifically to use the weightlifting platform 3 times a week for almost 2 years. Recently the gym removed a row of cardio machines to create more space for gym equipment and also removed the weightlifting platform, when asked if the platform was being replaced or returned management said there "isn't room for the platform" despite the cardio machines being removed to make more space on the gym floor. I train and compete in weightlifting so don't require much equipment but the response from management after the removal of equipment that my two years of membership could replace two+ times over was abysmal. Comically enough when the platform was removed trainers and staff reached out to me as a member to let me know because they cared more about the gym users than management. It's a shame because I loved the community at Equinox and as someone who works from home that is really important but I have had to go elsewhere, fortunately there's a new gym across the street, recently opened, that has four weightlifting platforms. It is disappointing how management treats their members who have been using the gym for two years and the choices management make. This review is in no way representative of the coaches, my time at Gramercy Equinox meant I crossed paths with some phenomenal people and fitness professionals; Brennan, Ricardo, Alessandra, Tuesday, Mikka, Ana, Shahida, Carlos, Jamal, both Omars, Brian, Jenny, and Will.

Damon was an amazing massage therapist. Would 100% recommend him!!! He was really great to talk to and helped address everything I wanted done. I don’t have any insights on the gym itself though the staff was nice but it was super busy around 6p.

the gym is pretty good - not too crowded if you go off peak and they pretty much have everything you could want/need. i used to think it was overpriced but then started taking classes and that makes the monthly membership worth it. lydia dallas got me really into pilates and was just a pleasure to work with and talk to while keeping me completely at ease despite profuse sweating and a pitiful lack of flexibility. ugo and ahmad teach the most kickass boxing classes - love ugo for technique and combinations but ahmad's class will absolutely kick your ass and he'll do it with a smile and the best energy ever. used to kind of just take it on the chin and pay a premium for the gym closest to me with bearable crowds, but i really did end up loving it once taking classes with these three.

Disappointing Experience and Poor Communication I had a frustrating experience at Chelsea Piers Fitness. During a walk-through with Zack, I was told that my 16-year-old son could use the gym, which made me excited to get him a membership, especially since they offer boxing. However, both times I brought him, they asked for his ID. I explained that all he has is a school ID, which doesn't have his birthday on it because he's 16, but they wouldn't accept it. When I tried to cancel my membership on 1-14-25 6:30pm, I couldn't do it directly. The manager said someone would call me to cancel, but that never happened. Overall, it’s been a big waste of my time and money. The lack of clear communication and poor handling of the cancellation process were very disappointing.

By far the best gym I have ever been to in Manhattan! Immaculate facilities, tons of equipment, extraordinarily well-kept and fresh-looking locker room with an excellent sauna and steam room. However, what sets this place apart from the rest is the atmosphere and environment in the gym. It’s light and airy, with high ceilings and windows that let in tons of natural light, looking out to the river. Since it’s on a pier, you can even see the Statue of Liberty down the bay. It motivates me to come back every day. The sheer amount of activities here is mind-blowing, from the indoor track, boxing ring, volleyball, basketball, and pool. Even the stretching area is excellent, with the artificial turf. The cafe seating area can double as a coworking space with Wi-Fi and views looking south down the river. The coffee in the cafe is even good! They also offer a private locked bike storage area in the garage included in the membership. I can not say enough good things about this gym.

The facility is great and the new management (since 2019 I believe), just terrible. Right now, the swimming pool is closed for renovations: it was supposed to reopen on Labor Day weekend, it’s now mid November and still closed. On top of that, the management does not communicate on expectations on reopening timing. Terrible customer service. Also, be aware of hidden fees. I asked to freeze my membership because of the pool not being accessible and they are now charging me 30$ MONTHLY freezing fee: this is totally unreasonable and definitely gives me the feeling they are in the rip-off business. Please owners, change the management as soon as possible: CPF it’s been a lovely place for more than 8 years for me and the people in charge have been making the customer experience worse every day since they joined.

While in NYC for business, I got a day pass at Crunch Fitness on the days I worked out, and it was such a great experience! The staff were super friendly and really focused on making sure everyone felt welcome. One thing I loved, especially compared to gyms in Germany, was the free towels—such a nice touch! The location was super convenient, and the gym had everything I needed for a solid workout. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone visiting the city!

Very nice cute gym but it threw me off that there were no squat racks. Clearly this gyms main clientele doesn’t mind that, but just a good thing to know before coming. Beautiful locker room, love the option of a hot sauna or a steam room. Will definitely be back.

This gym is so dated 😩 so old looking. When are you even going to remodel and update your look and new equipment. It has to be one of the uglier gyms I've ever seen. Looks like a cheap gym from the 1980s or something. Just saying 😌 🤷BTW I'm being kind giving it 3 stars 🌟

Overpriced, Unprofessional, and Poorly Designed I recently joined this gym, hoping for a solid place to get my fitness routine back on track, but it’s been a huge letdown. Between the outrageous prices, poor design, and an environment that feels more like a photo shoot than a place to work out, I won’t be renewing my membership. First off, the design of the gym is terrible. The layout feels cramped and inefficient, -and its a 4 story gym... go figure! The locker rooms are another nightmare. Instead of being a place to get changed quickly and move on with your day, they’ve become a social media hotspot. People spend hours in the locker rooms, sitting around, taking pictures, and recording videos for Instagram. It’s not just a quick snap here and there—these people are practically living in the locker room, blocking the benches and making it impossible to change or even have some privacy. The staff seems completely oblivious to this issue, which only adds to the frustration. They are too afraid to say anything because of the "extreme progressive movement" or blasted on social media and being cancelled. And let’s not even get started on the pricing. This gym is far too expensive for what it offers. it feels like you're paying for a lot of fluff rather than real value. I could find a much better gym for half the price, where the equipment is more spaced out, the environment is focused on fitness, and I’m not paying for the privilege of having to fight for space or avoid selfie culture in the locker room. Overall, this gym is a total waste of money. Poorly designed, overpriced, and with zero regard for creating a serious workout environment, it’s not worth the hype. If you’re serious about your fitness goals, I suggest you save your money and find somewhere else that actually cares about its members.

“Terrible Experience – Adrea and Equinox Greenwich Ave Are a Complete Scam!” I had a Hydrafacial done with Adrea at Equinox Greenwich Ave, and it was hands-down the WORST facial experience of my life. I informed her multiple times beforehand that I have sensitive skin and needed her to be cautious. Despite this, she applied way too much pressure with the suction wand, leaving me with severe redness, irritation, and even scarring. This is completely unacceptable for a service that is supposed to be gentle and marketed as safe for sensitive skin. During the facial, I expressed my discomfort and brought up that my skin was becoming increasingly red and irritated. Instead of addressing the issue or adjusting her technique, Adrea dismissed my concerns and blamed my skin for being “too sensitive.” This kind of unprofessionalism is appalling, especially from someone representing Equinox, which prides itself on luxury services. I have had countless Hydrafacials before at other places and NEVER experienced a reaction like this. It is clear that Adrea lacks the skill and care to perform this treatment properly. Equinox, as a whole, is an outrageously overpriced scam. They charge obscene amounts for services and yet clearly don’t care about their customers. The level of disregard for my experience—both during the session and in its aftermath—is shocking. For what they charge, I expected far better treatment and professionalism. Instead, I was met with recklessness, dismissiveness, and damage to my skin. I am demanding a full refund for this disaster of a facial. Equinox needs to reevaluate both its staff and its approach to customer service because this is unacceptable. I strongly urge anyone considering their spa services to stay far away. Equinox is all flash and no substance—you’re paying for their ego, not actual quality or care.

Experiencing Equinox for the first time on a guest pass was a memorable occasion. While I was inclined to award a perfect rating, I withheld one star due to the noticeable wear and tear on some of the equipment. However, this minor flaw was overshadowed by the overall excellence of my visit. The front desk staff exuded warmth and hospitality, creating an inviting atmosphere from the moment I arrived. Navigating the gym was seamless, even during peak hours, as there was ample equipment available, ensuring the space never felt overcrowded. I eagerly anticipate beginning my membership and making Equinox a regular part of my routine.

Equinox Greenwich Avenue is widely recognized as NYC’s top gay gym, offering an atmosphere that’s unmatched in inclusivity and LGBTQ+ pride. This isn’t just a gym; it’s a space where LGBTQ+ members can workout freely, relax in the immaculate locker rooms and steam room, and feel completely at ease among like-minded individuals. The vibe here is distinct and vibrant, a true community setting where members find both fitness and camaraderie. Straight men, if you’re truly open-minded and comfortable in an environment where hot gay guys might flirt just as naturally as anyone would at any other gym, you’ll fit right in. Otherwise, there are plenty of other gyms in NYC! For those who value an inclusive, respectful, and fun vibe, this place is a true gem. 🏳️🌈💪

I am heartbroken that I need to: 1. Rate this location poorly, 2. Stop my membership. I recently switched to Equinox because of this location of lifetime. This location was the easiest access to me. However it is NOT WORTH IT! If you’re going to the other locations in midtown they are absolutely worth it. But this one has such a small area for weights/machines. It’s too small for me. There is only one of each machine so that means that you need to constantly be waiting to use another machine because someone must be using it. Also, one thing I really hate, I do not see any wipes to clean the seats. Maybe it’s just the times I went but I NEVER saw any wipes to clean the equipments and it’s so disgusting to think about. Maybe it’s just my OCD? But it was a major turn off and honestly the biggest factor as to why I made the heartbreaking decision to end my membership. Trust me I did not want to do that. Lifetime is the ultimate luxury gym. The changing rooms are gorgeous and the gym always smells AMAZING!!! Best scent I’ve ever smelled. If you are not a germaphobe like me, then go ahead and join Lifetime. I just can’t bring myself to justify having a membership when I feel uncomfortable or disgusted or paranoid when using the equipment.

The pool area & locker room was a definite bonus and the workout room was appreciated At no additional cost. Do bring your own personal appliances as there are none on site. Great location, mins walk to Central Park, Columbus circle and Subway station. 15mins walk to Times Square and every other attractions nearby. 20mins walk to the MET and AMNH. If you expect this is a star rank hotel, it will fail to reach ur expectations, however if you think this is a university dormitory, the facilities will fit the requirement. This an affordable, comfortable and safety property not only in West side but entire Manhattan! The property have around ten private bathrooms at the floor of semi-private bathroom room, and you can easy access to the view of Central Park from the windows, it also comes with bottle filling machine which can save ur bottle.

Here are the lyrics to the iconic song "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People: Young man, there's no need to feel down I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town There's no need to be unhappy Young man, there's a place you can go I said, young man, when you're short on your dough You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find Many ways to have a ball It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A Young man, are you listening to me? I said, young man, come on and take a plea You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal You can do whatever you feel Young man, I was once in your shoes I said, young man, I was down with the blues I felt no man cared if I were alive I felt the whole world was so jive That's when someone came up to me And said, "Young man, take a walk up the street" There's a place there called the Y-M-C-A They can help you, but you've got to be brave It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A Y-M-C-A, it's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A Y-M-C-A, it's fun to stay

Reluctant being a member here - they can be rude and unhelpful. Sometimes they’ll clean the showers during peak hours so I have to wait 15-20 minutes to use it. Today they had 0 towels and didn’t send an email notice or mention as you walk in. I didn’t have time to go home and shower so I was forced to air dry and couldn’t use the steam room either. They also didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. If you’re paying $100+ you expect common decency and to get basic needs met.

I got a free day pass to use the gym from an ad for Crunch Gym 81st street and decided to check it out the next day. When I arrived, a rude guy at the front desk without looking at me (he was just using his phone all the time) told me I should have scheduled a date to use the pass—something that was never mentioned when I received the email confirming my day pass I scheduled a time to use my free day pass with the manager at Crunch Gym. After arriving and waiting a few minutes for him to check my ID, I was told I still couldn’t work out. Instead, they spent the entire time trying to sell me a membership, insisting that I had to sign up if I wanted to use the facilities. I explained that we wanted to work out first, as I was doing a gym tour to decide which gym to join. He said that I have been there before couple months ago with a friend and he couldn’t allowed me to work out. Ok so what’s the purpose of a free day pass? This completely defeats the idea of trying the gym before committing and feels like a scam. Because while I’ve visited (more than 7 months ago) I’ve never used a free day pass—nor has my sister, who hasn’t been to the gym at all. Thankfully, one friendly front desk employee offered me a discount on a day pass and allowed my sister to use her free pass. I was genuinely interested in trying the gym before committing, but the experience left me feeling misled and frustrated. Be cautious of their advertising—it’s just a sales tactic.

I love group classes, I think it's time to update the mats for training. And the most important point, why is it so difficult to separate the area for yoga, it is impossible to concentrate because you can hear the music (loudly) from the gym. Put a glass door there, not glass, anything. It really prevents you from enjoying the training with good trainers.

The gym can get a bit crowded, but that’s to be expected. The trainers are really helpful, and the new front desk guy with the Jamaican accent is super friendly and good-looking. I believe his name is Adrian.

Had an amazing workout while in town, the front desk staff were really accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend the gym if you are looking to kick start your fitness journey.
