Joining this gym has changed my life! I attend the south location for early morning workouts (known as the breakfast club) and it is in my opinion the best gym in South Austin! Great atmosphere, perfect programming, lots of options for any level regardless of experience. I had no strength training prior, but now can comfortably snatch, clean, and jerk, as well as plethora of accessory workouts provided by the gyms Team builder/ Push press app. As a native South-Austinite with a full time blue collar job, I would absolutely recommend this hidden gym (pun-intended).

I recently got back into Oly Lifting a few months ago after not lifting since college. It was very important to me to find a gym with experienced and certified Oly coaches, and a warm and friendly community of fellow lifters. Austin Barbell has exceeded my expectations for both. Great facility, great coaches, great community. Excellent for beginners and experienced lifters alike.

Austin Barbell has wonderful and welcoming environment. Where the people come first and everyone is treated equal. The coaches and the community are very supportive and laid back. The gym consists of athletes of all ranges and the coaches are very knowledgeable and attentive. I am a former competitor and have been part of this sport for over a decade. I've been to many gyms and what I find here is rare. I recommend anyone looking for a community to visit.

I trained at Austin Barbell Club (South) while temporarily in town on a consulting job. I can honestly say it’s one of the best weightlifting gyms I’ve been to. The facility is top-notch — spacious and fully equipped with all the latest gear from barbells, weights, squat racks and Olympic platforms. There's also a separate room specifically designated for squatting and pulls. It's perfect for the beginning lifter to the seasoned pro. I highly recommend it.

Highly recommend if you’re looking to get strong! Competing requires discipline, a greater commitment to one self to aim for higher, and grit to keep going no matter how many times you get knocked down. The high scorers of grit in studies have shown to have better resilience. How do you train grit, commitment, and discipline? I found a way that works for me is Austin Barbell South. I’ve noticed improvement in my personal life, service to others and overall well being. Wisdom and character are a couple of things I hope people can remember me for. Lifting the barbell and firing off motor neurons with that type of training helps develop those for me. I recently did my first American Open Series 2 and the support was phenomenal. Competing and stepping out of my comfort zone has really helped me grow in ways I needed to.

I joined 2 months ago and have noticed a significant increase in my energy level, weight loss, back pain relief. The studio is always clean, the staff is very attentive (Alyx is so kind, friendly, and welcoming) I love the ability to have 24/7 access, the small group classes make it so relaxing to work out.

Thankful that Erica convinced me to sign up after my first session! She was so kind and helpful in answering all my questions! I love the sauna workouts and the variety that the studio has. It’s also really nice to have a training zone with weights and TRX.

Love this brand new gym! The staff is really friendly and keeps the place sparkling. The studio has an awesome view of the sunrise through the front lobby, and an even better sunset from the free weights FX Zone, totally zen. The workouts have a modification for each skill level, and allow you to improve postures over time. You can book saunas with friends, or make new friends just by signing up! Highly recommend to any fitness-minded folks near Goodnight Ranch.

I absolutely love hotworx, it’s an incredible place to work out and Erica was super helpful when I got started- very friendly and explained things well. This gym plays no games, you will sweat and feel good about it. My wife has a membership and since she’s been going she has started having more confidence, more drive to work out. She truly loves this place. I went with her to do a HIIT workout and could barely keep up, AND I AM IN THE GYM ALL THE TIME. but at hotworx it’s a different kind of workout and I can see why she loves it so much. She over all feels better and has more energy! Whatever this place is doing keep doing it. And I’m happy she has friends there too. Thank you Hotworx

Crunch Fitness is a gym for gym goers. Plenty of workout equipment, equipment in good shape, clean, gym feel, friendly and helpful staff. All of the essentials for a great workout without the fluff of other nearby corporate gyms. They let me workout for free on a 3 day pass while in town. I’ll be joining starting in May when I’m coming to town again on a more regular basis.

Overall an amazing gym! Only 5 min from me would really love to make it my home gym if they could add a belt squat machine or even a reverse hack like the other locations! Would be super helpful to avoid the drive down to the Kyle location, other than that it's the perfect gym!

Sexist gym. Over 3 months waiting for men’s showers to be remodeled, only a week for women’s as men’s showers access swiftly taken away and given to women when done. When sauna goes down male workers too busy assisting women to stop and reset sauna. Best location to work out but all attention os for female patrons.

This was a great gym until the showers started going under construction. I drive 30min into town and cannot shower at the gym because they’ve been under construction. So this is upsetting. As soon as the men's showers get finished, they switch us to the women's bathrooms which have showers that are under construction. This is unacceptable. The men have already had to go almost 2 months without showers, now we won't have access to the showers until next year, while the women remain unaffected by the shower construction. Thinking of pausing my membership for a few months until construction is complete because after driving 30min into town from Cedar Creek, I have no place to shower.

I’ve been training for since April 2023 at North Barbell Club and I highly recommend it! 1. Coaching: Rob, Christine, and Luis are fantastic coaches and know the exact tips and prompts to get you to understand what you need to do to improve your lifts. 2. Community: there is a great group at Austin Barbell, and the atmosphere during workouts is supportive, energizing, and fun! The community is also incredibly welcoming regardless of age, gender, or experience. 3. Growth: I’ve improved my strength and my confidence over the past 3 months! I hope to enter my first competition this year and know I will be ready when the time comes. Update 10/23: Competing: If you are interested in competing this is a great place to get involved! I just competed in my first meet and it was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to do more.

I joined ABB almost a year ago, and couldn’t be happier with how my experience has been. From the beginning the coaches have welcomed me and made me feel comfortable learning a sport that I had little background in. I would recommend ABB to anyone, from beginnings to even the most experienced weight lifters.

Permanently locked out because I spent a couple hours on my laptop for a work issue that came up on my way to the gym. So don't use the wifi I guess. Not for paying customers. Also it's tiny and busy, which is fine, but they're also a mess with their storage. I'm glad I won't return. Other locations are cleaner and don't have ridiculous policies about their wifi. This lack of consistency is why I will cancel my AF membership altogether.

I'm visiting for the weekend from California and I had a free day to get a workout in. I stopped by Anytime Fitness and had a great experience. Good assortment of free weights, machines, and cardio. Very clean and good quality equipment. Appreciate Jon Sargeant's hospitality and arranging a day pass. Would highly recommend this gym.

I really enjoy this gym. John, Irina, and Christian are all friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It always feels great to be greeted by them. They are always helping someone or cleaning. This gym is SO CLEAN (that's a huge selling point for my partner and myself). The music is chill and not too loud. It's usually calm and not too crowded when I go (not during am/pm rush). I feel left alone, which I enjoy... but never lonely. Glad to be a member here 💗

Hey there! I'm Coach Brian, one of the boxing coaches here at Blacksheep. Obviously a little biased here, but we truly have a great coaching staff from top to bottom. Clean facility, A/C always working, and a safe environment to actually learn a multitude of fight disciplines. I routinely join another Coaches class so that I can stay sharp and continue to learn. Hope to see you in class!!! 🥊💪🏿

It’s been an absolute joy coaching at Black Sheep. From the ownership, to the coaching staff, we are re-establishing a renewed relationship with the community. I’m excited to grow with this team and creating something special for the members and those looking for a new gym to call their own. Come check it out and see what you’re missing out on.

Been training and teaching at Blacksheep Combat for a little over 2 years now. Great teammates and coaches whenever I train, and love to have the opportunity to teach and grow with our kids class! Come try out a trial class anytime!

This place is a home away from home. The equipment is new and maintained very well. Every member of the staff is extremely knowledgeable and excellent teachers. Most of them are willing to do some mitt-work with you and give you pointers just because of their love of the sport. The classes are expertly taught and handled. The environment is one of the best when it comes to combat gyms in Austin. Very open. And the 24 hour access makes this place invaluable. Want to give a special shout-out to Brian Moss, great coach and a highly motivated trainer and professional as they come.

I've been going here regularly for boxing for a year and I have nothing but good things to say about this gym, the staff, and coaches. Clean facilities, plenty of equipment, relatively large training space. The two managers/front desk staff are both good guys who care about the gym and the patrons. Thanks to them, the gym stays clean and organized and everything runs smoothly. The coaches teach good classes, they're all personable and approachable, they take time to teach technique and will pay attention in class and give individual corrections. Every time I've asked them a question they have broken it down for me and the class. If you put forth a good effort and take it seriouly they will recognize that. I've personally never had a problem with any of the other people in the classes. There's a mix from beginners to active fighters and everyone is respectful as far as I've seen. When I was brand new I didn't have all of my partners trying to take my head off which gave me some room to breathe and actually learn. They'll still make you work for it, though, which is how it should be. I saw a review where someone complained about the 30-day cancellation policy and all I've got to say about that is I think it's fair and it's MUCH better than any other (typical weight lifting) gym I've been to where they make it impossible to cancel. Awhile ago, I thought I had to cancel due to travel for my job and the managers were completely understanding and filed my cancellation with no issues. I ended up not traveling so I canceled the cancellation. I don't plan on leaving this gym any time soon. I haven't done Muay Thai so I can't speak to that but I've seen them training and it seems like good stuff, too. Good coach, hard working students/trainees, etc.

I’ve really enjoyed training with Atomic for the past few months- the coaches are great, the programming is challenging and emphasizes the fundamentals while keeping it fun, and the community is so welcoming and kind. The group classes have been amazing and I’ve even made a few friends with other strong, badass people. I’d recommend Atomic to a more intermediate lifter personally, as classes are a little more independent/self-guided than other places I’ve been to, but overall it truly is a wonderful place full of amazing athletes- 10/10!

Atomic Outpost is way more than a gym. It’s a 360-degree program. The gym itself is an excellent facility. The equipment is all top notch. It’s clean, roomy and close to domain area. The workout program and daily group workouts are well-thought out, full-body challenges. The coaches make sure you are lifting with good form and challenging yourself correctly in the group workouts. I’ve already dropped weight and improved physique within the first month and here’s why... The Coaches are truly top-notch. They are knowledgeable about the right form - I’ve been working out for 20+ years and they have shown me little tweaks about how to improve my lifts. You can feel the difference right away during the lift and this injury avoidance & respect is worth it. The coaches and gym regulars are all in amazing shape, yet very supportive of those just getting started. All this allows me to challenge myself consistently. The Atomic community is really supportive. There are group workouts Downtown on Saturdays and stretching/yoga to restore on Sundays. They are nutrition focused and have an optional nutrition program to complement the workout plan. Another highlight is the side quests like the Halloween night-ops run, Holiday party and other events. Lastly, their social media is super positive which keeps me focused on staying healthy and fit. Atomic Outpost has really exceeded my expectations on what "a gym" can be.

I am not a gym rat. I have never had a membership to a gym in my life -- my athleticism derives from cycling, mountain biking and professional dancing. However, after being strongly persuaded by a member of Atomic Athlete, I decided to check out what all the fuss is about. I live close to Atomic Outpost, so that is where I go. It is quite possibly the best decision I have ever made for myself in regard to my workout routine. I am obsessed with this place. It's been two months since I joined, and I am eager to get into it every Monday. I have a few chronic injuries and they know exactly how I should modify the exercises that I know are going to irritate that body part. The most unexpected part is the people --- the comradery in unreal. I only do the group workouts, and everyone is so nice and welcoming and supportive. The coaches are GREAT. They do an incredible job at keeping you motivated and pumped up during the grueling parts of the workout where you kind of feel like you're going to die a little but don't. My most favorite part is that not one workout has been the same, which is great for someone like me because I get bored easily and love to be challenged. I am so grateful that I found this place. It is everything that my friend described it to be and more. Do yourself a favor and give yourself a month here. Just try it. You'll never wanna quit, I promise.

It's been an incredible experience. The atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and the coaches are absolutely fantastic. They take the time to get to know each member personally and tailor workouts to individual goals and abilities. The workouts themselves are challenging but always varied and interesting, so I never get bored. The facility is top-notch, so I always feel safe and supported during my workouts. But what really sets the Outpost apart is the community. I've made so many new friends and workout buddies since joining, and everyone is so supportive and encouraging. It truly feels like a family. Overall, I would highly recommend Atomic Athlete Outpost to anyone looking for a fun, challenging, and supportive workout community in North Austin.
