COACHING: 5 stars for most coaches, their energy, and music. 6 stars for Courtney, Safi, Matt, and Amar! PROGRAMMING: 4 stars; I did weight training for a number of years so I feel I am pretty strong, but Tuesdays and Thursdays are focused on shoulders and biceps and the bicep work is excessive for most women. EQUIPMENT: 2 stars. Machines can take weeks to be repaired. Currently, the screen on multiple machines turns on but it doesn't actually track calories or distance. I reset the workout on the screen before I start and some machines will say I am running at a sub 4-minute mile pace. I might be fast but I'm not that fast. SENSE OF COMMUNITY: 1 Star. Simply put, there is no sense of community unless you count putting your first in the air and saying "work!" together after class. I've never been to another fitness studio where there are a dozen people waiting for a class in the lobby and nobody talks or interacts. There are different ways to get folks to talk to one another but that starts with the ownership and how they cultivate that. Be aware of their business model that makes them a ton of money: $99/month is great, but it's $15 for each "late cancellation." Late cancellation is cancelling your class less than 8 hours BEFORE it starts. So if something comes up with work, kids, etc. and you cancel 7 1/2 hours BEFORE your class starts, you are automatically charged $15. This rule is absurd and insensitive to the fact that life happens and people have extenuating circumstances. Renegade invests in a sales team to get you signed up. I was contacted several times within two weeks of visiting. Meanwhile, since I have joined and reached out to them, I get a delayed response or no response at all. Overall, Renegade ownership seems to care most about your money & their reviews. I'd stay for the coaches and workouts most days but I can't support a business that demonstrates (through their "late" cancellation policy and lack of responsiveness) it doesn't care whatsoever about it's members.

Ridiculous, beyond challenging. 5 stars because the people who can complete these workouts should be enlisted in the military, special forces specifically. Extra star for the people who use dumbbells with the Bulgarian split squats. 0/5 stars for rest periods or catering workouts to people with average conditioning. Bunch of positive, uplifting freaks

We dropped into Renegade for the 8am class while in town for a wedding, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. Despite there being people around, no one greeted us or offered any guidance. We had no idea who the coach was, where to put our belongings, or whether stations were assigned or self-selected. It was completely unwelcoming. They make a big deal about not being CrossFit or bootcamp, but maybe that’s because they lack any sense of community. This place felt impersonal, like a virtual gym. The workout itself was similar to an F45, but without the structure, helpfulness, or welcoming environment that F45 offers. If you value community and support, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Renegade, I love you! I’ve been a loyal member for a few years now- but please fix the AC! You’re gonna have some people faint from heat exhaustion. We pay too much for this not to be fixed after months! Some of my friends have quit because of the AC situation.

I'm so excited that we are going to have a facility that is rite down the street from my house. Just off the university ave exit going North. And North Park way exit going South. Located in the Subway sandwich parking lot, last night I noticed it for the first time. I'm so excited, this is something we have needed for a long time.I am looking forward to joining this Renegade Fitcamp. It looked closed last night around 7pm. But I found the website and it says it will be open on Monday March 4th. I took some pictures of the outside to post, (not the greatest quality from inside my car) but this excited me even more. I'm so looking forward to going in on Monday and see how I could get a customized workout for my age(54) and weight that suits me! Yeah Renegade! Looking forward to joining!!

I was in town for just a few days and needed a solid gym that offers day passes. It wasn’t easy to find but was really happy to have found this gym (20$ for a day pass). Gym is on the smaller side but has everything you need. They have an awesome selection of plate loaded Hammer Strength machines and plenty of squat racks. Staff was incredibly friendly ! I felt very welcome there. Would sign up if I lived in San Diego.

Awesome local gym. I live nearby and being able to walk here is so convenient. Always very clean. Main gym is on the smaller side, but I like the layout and it has all the important equipment you need. They also have a separate upstairs turf area in another building a few steps from the main entrance which adds more space. Overall highly recommend if you live in North Park!

Updated! The floors are being cleaned several times during the day. Second floor has a lot of space. LOVE THIS GYM! Good gym. Has everything. However I never saw anyone cleaning floors. That would be a good improvement.

Recently joined and very happy with my experience thus far. Staff has been kind and helpful. The owner even got involved for a short welcome tour and form tips (asking first if I was open to feedback). You can tell that North Park Fitness wants you to get the best benefit possible from the facility. Thank you!

super nice staff with very polite and courteous gym members. nobody ignores their cardio and diet. everyone goes hard and lifts heavy yet still maintains proper form and full range of motion. i think there is only one guy who only guy does triceps push downs and slams the weights after every set so everyone knows he’s there 😆🏋🏼♂️ if i were to score this gym against every gym in the country i would say 8.7? 8.9 maybe. there is room to park a tractor trailer and get a shower lift some weights and eat some tacos 🌮

This location was nasty. Absolutely gross. The red light and tanning booths both hadn't been wiped down at all. The gal at the front had an attitude and said it's the customers job to wipe them down. It's not. It's yours. People go into these things barefoot. You do NOT allow one person to go in there and then leave it as is for th next. That's how disease is spread. It's beyond gross and I'm beyond disgusted. I just payed an extra $39 this month, on top of my regular gym membership fee, for the upkeep of equipment. What a RIP OFF!!!!! Not to mention, the hours here in CA all suck. Even Bend, OR has a CLEAN gym and is back to 24 hrs weeks. I'm so disappointed. Do better. I hate leaving nasty reviews, but this is the final straw for me. There is a law to make sure that places like this are kept clean to keep the public safe. I only get 2 min to get ready to get into the red light/tan booth. Those 2 min have been used up CLEANING your equipment. Not cool. Also, there's no trash cans in any of these rooms. The dirty paper towels go on the floor...? Today I actually thought about canceling and switching gyms. So lame...I wish I could leave a much nicer review, because the one guy was super nice when I first came in.

I've been to plenty of planet fitness around the area but this one was the cleanest. It's a smaller gym but all their equipment works nicely. Kinda hard to find a planet fitness with all the equipment working correctly. Shout-out to the worker Roberto for showing me around. 🤝

I have been to many other PF locations and this one has by far the worst looking locker room/shower experience of any that I have visited so far. I have had better in many other 3rd world countries. I can’t take photos in the locker room for obvious reasons, so just envision layers of filth and hair and grease.

Honestly hate the hours here, they are only open from 8am -8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Not even remotely close to 24hrs . They close at 10pm every weekday night and even earlier on weekends. It’s ridiculous this place is called 24hr fitness. COVID restrictions have been gone this place seems to cater hours to its employees rather than it’s clients. Literally the most limited hours and it’s pretty grimey stale air hot never any fans or AC on. Like others have said a lot of broken machines as well

Worked out here for several years with no real issues. I know it's old and the first 24 hour in San Diego. But, you'd think if this gym was one of the originals, it would be a model gym. After real hot days in San Diego, went today. The water fountain was broken, several machines were broken, and worst of all, the a/c wasn't working for 1/2 the gym. Yet, the locker rooms are freezing with good a/c. I suggested to the worker to put a fan near the locker room to blow some cold air out, and he just kinda ignored the request and apologized. Come on 24 hour. Don't say your sorry and that you 'dropped the ball.: Either keep up the gym, fix the a/c, or close the gym. Members shouldn't have to complain in the first place.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for about 30 years,(no kidding), and this used to be my home gym. Now that they hardly have any classes, I don't come here much anymore. But today was so jarring, I had to write this. The manager was not on site. When I was using the ladies restroom, I looked up to see 3 holes in the ceiling that look right down on the women in the restroom! Apparently the workmen who'd been up in the attic had stopped for the day, and then neglected to cover the holes in the ceiling! Anyone could be up there watching us use the restroom and change! When I alerted front desk, they said they'd called the manager and put in a work order, but this is truly inexcusable! Truly a violation of our privacy. What is happening at this gym? I'm so sad that location really matters when you go to 24 Hour....the ones in more affluent areas would NEVER look like this.

This gym is ok. The staff is super friendly but there are some issues. They don't fix the broken equipment fast enough and a lot of the machines are very old. But I can work around that. The MAJOR problem is the cleanliness of the showers. I love to work out in the morning and take a shower before work. That is pretty much impossible to do in the women showers. They are incredibly filthy, moldy and old. Old I can handle but the filth is simply not necessary. The shower stalls need to be brushed and steamed and disinfected. Even the vents are caked with dirt. I have stopped going there even though it is the most convenient location for me. I hope somebody sees this and does something about this. Otherwise, great location.

The men's locker room is disgusting. It stinks and is filthy. Very poor plumbing, the sink area has dirty wet floors every time you enter and things constantly broken down, mildew in the showers. I used to like to take a shower after a long workout, not anymore, it's unsanitary. How unfortunate.

Nice place to exercise! Plenty of trees around, and many other sports in addition to swimming. The swimming pool is deep enough to practice diving at the beginning. Only don't especially love the showers because you need to hold the faucet all the time. Dressing rooms are enormous. People working there are friendly as well as the rest of the patrons .

Great local park. Plenty of trees, 2 playgrounds, a pool, tennis courts, multi use fields and a gymnasium. Well used by local teams and firefighters for exercise and relaxation. Well maintained and clean. I frequent it weekly for my 10,000 step walks even though it is not huge. Just right for a neighborhood park!

I always have an amazing experience at the gym, thanks to my dedication and two outstanding staff members named Erica and Shelby! This front desk duo at the gym is truly remarkable, effortlessly navigating a wide range of situations with style and grace. Whether managing membership inquiries, addressing concerns, or handling busy rush hours, they consistently maintain a warm smile and a positive attitude. Their ability to connect with diverse clientele, from seasoned athletes to newcomers, fosters a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the gym experience for everyone. It’s inspiring to see how they remain composed and professional, turning potentially stressful moments into seamless interactions. Their dedication truly makes the gym a better place. Their teamwork is impressive, and they genuinely go above and beyond to ensure every member feels welcome. I can’t recommend working out enough— especially with them at the front desk, they truly elevate the overall experience! Five stars!

They were able to pull off a decent PF from a less than average retail plaza. They have all the same equipment as others but it’s a tight design and not much room. Other than that it’s good. Always recommend a Black Card

I tried going for a bit, good part of a year, but after not feeling comfortable going because of how the equipment seemed to be in need of repair a lot, not to mention this location not having classes, abd trying to join class at other locations was just to difficult, I canceled my membership. The only thing they ever asked if me was "Why are you canceling?" Not how things could have improved or been better. Staff was overall nice. Hated going because if I wasn't early then i couldn't use the machines I wanted, and alot of the younger gym goers just didn't follow the rules of common courtesy and it never really seemed to be enforced. Lacking in free weight options compared to other gyms I'd been a part of. Only really good plus was location to my house, and staff was generally friendly at least.

Terrible experience, completely unprofessional gym, staff and management! Went it weeks prior to cancel membership which I was forced to do because they do not give you an option on the app. So upon going into gym to sign I was canceling my membership the staff at counter could not get the computer to work so they wrote a note and assured me I would be getting an email which I never received. Now upon next cycle I’m charged so I not call the facility and speak with Sean to find out the manager because I have had no help so far, was told there was never a note made and given time manager will be in which is not all Weekend long on a Friday morning. Unprofessional all around. Will be returning Monday to re do canceling my membership and upon refund I will take post down other wise this stands as worse gym to go to.

The owner of this franchised PF doesn't clean it very well. One of the showers is leaking water from the spout, about a gallon every 2 minutes. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. Before that, another one was leaking as bad and wasn't fixed or turned off for about a month. And that one still isn't up for use. The staff are very good and are friendly.

I've been working with Alexa, as my personal trainer, since March of last year. I have increased my strength and feel very strong as a result of her expertise and encouragement. She is kind, fun and makes working out not seem like a chore! We have great conversations and she never stops pushing me to lift more and heavier. The gym is nice; as a 51 year old woman, I never feel awkward about being there. I'd love for some new mats (they are old), but overall I love working out here, and Alexa makes it even better!

I have been a member at this gym for about a year and a half now. I love the gym, it is spacious, it has a sauna among other things and the staff is awesome. I joined their personal training program around May 2024 with Sophia. The whole PT team is great, very knowledgeable and encouraging. Sophia cares about her clients and works with me to reach my weight training goals. With her help I have been able to hit personal bests several times and feel very confident in the gym. She is very knowledgeable about weight training, nutrition, and how everythung works together to obtain the best results from my workouts. I highly recommend Sophia and the rest of the PT team here at Crunch Fitness University.

First and foremost, I came to Crunch with little to no experience in the gym. I, of course, was initially intimidated. Three months later, the Crunch at University Square has become my "safe space". The clientele are friendly, non-judgmental, respectful, and largely serious about working out. The staff are beyond welcoming. They are genuinely interested in the well-being of the gym goers and are invested in seeing them grow. I often see the staff assisting and advising different individuals on their own time. HOWEVER, the MOST generous, helpful, caring and supportive staff member is unquestionably their personal trainer, Sam. I have had the good fortune of training with Sam for 3 months now, bi-weekly. I have seen a dramatic change in my physique. And it's not just me; my family, friends and acquaintances constantly comment on my transformation. Sam has a Degree in Kinesiology and is working towards her DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy). She is not only encouraging but extremely knowledgeable. For someone who is just beginning, intermediate, or an expert in the gym, I can guarantee Sam can teach you something new about your body and yourself. I had hoped to grow physically as a result of taking personal training... And I did. But I never dreamed of how much I would grow on a personal level. Sam has helped me reach my goals inside and outside of the gym. Would recommend! Thanks so much to everyone at Crunch and a big Thank You to Sam for helping me become my best self. -Oliver Maurice Martin

I have been a member at renegade for almost 5 years. I love the program and the workouts. It’s also a fun upbeat environment that keeps you motivated. My only complaint is that they have been offering discounted unlimited memberships to new people, and refusing to allow their members that have been with them for years to pay that same price. That doesn’t show very good customer loyalty. That being said, it has now been harder than ever to get into the class times that I want because of the influx of new members due to discounted pricing.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would work out 6 days a week and love it. This has absolutely changed my life. My clothes fit better after just 3 weeks of going and I am positive that I will not stop. Every day I look forward to it. My entire body is stronger and I have way more energy. The classes have three fifteen minute blocks. In each block there are 4 to 6 exercises that you usually do 4 sets of. There is NO thinking involved, just show up and they have a perfectly planned workout for you. It’s NEVER boring, never the same, and it’s only as hard as you want to make it. I’m consistently challenged, but never overwhelmed. I’m frequently sore, but NEVER injured or have difficulty moving the next few days. The staff is friendly and helpful. Michael is a ball of energy and cracks me up every class. You can tell that he really wants what’s best for everyone. The workouts are designed by a physiologist and rehab specialist so they’re taking into account your well being on many different levels. The first time I went I was overwhelmed with all of the exercises and instructions, but if you get lost, just look to your neighbors, most of them always know what to do because they’ve been long time attendees. I cannot recommend renegade enough. I feel lucky that they are based in San Diego. Take advantage of the 3 free classes, and see for yourself! 45 min a day to devote to your health is nothing! The workouts here are solid based on my limited experience there. In summary: Poor customer service. Little respect for new customers. Don't trust the trials as advertised on Mind Body. I tried the gym over a year ago with a free trial; it was good. Then, I was asked by a friend who recently joined the gym to come in on a 2-day pass advertised on Mind Body. Upon trying to use that I was turned away at the front desk being accused of creating multiple accounts to get "another" free trial. There are multiple issues with this 1) honor what you advertise 2) I did not create a duplicate account, in fact, my Mind Body account shows both of my trials in my classes 3) the person who referred me used a trial last year and then a 2-day pass as advertised in Mind Body to give it a second try. You tell me why one person gets this and other get thats. I definitely do not need a 2-day pass badly enough to create a second account to get and I highly doubt anyone else does. Even if I did, don't you want to invest in a potential customer with a measly 2 classes? I called and texted the gym to explain the situation with 0 response from them.

HORRIBLE gym. How does a gym run out of barbells? That’s the one thing you’re supposed to have, yet pretty much everyday you can see people waiting at benches and squat racks that have no barbells at them, just waiting for a barbell to become free. It’s like a game of musical chairs — if you wanna squat, you’re gonna have to wait for someone to finish benching and then move their barbell to the squat rack. If you bring up this issue to staff, they will lie to you that they’ve ordered some and they’re on the way. Staff pretty much know they can get away with being totally useless. And worst of all, the weight room actually smells worse than the bathroom. Literally nothing is ever cleaned. Everywhere constantly smells. For what we’re paying, we deserve way better. I’ll change my review if they fix these problems.

Been coming here for over 15 years and the gym is falling apart. Nothing that breaks ever gets fixed. So many things wrong with this gym: Bathrooms run out of paper towels and soap all the time. The roof leaks throughout the entire gym every time it rains. I’m almost certain that there has to be a mold problem. Basketball court is always messed. The players are even had to put money together to buy a new rim because LA fitness wouldn’t replace a broken one. Rim is held together by tape. We also had to find random screws to hold it up. All it’s going to take is major injury with the faulty rim. You be the judge of this gym. I’ll post all the photos. Place is disappointing.

Tried this location since it was close to my work. 3 squat racks, 3 bench press, 1 decline bench and 2 incline bench and about 6 barbells so some of the benches are useless unless you use dumbbells, which are also limited. Also the AC did not work in the weights area. The showers likely have black mold on the ceiling. Will not be returning to this location. Much room for improvement.

Arrived here on a Friday around 10am the gym was sooo busy, unfortunately, I was unable to use the machines I had planned to. The main reason for the low stars is because although we are past the pandemic, I believe it’s still important to keep social distancing and have paper towels and sanitizing supplies available. This was not the case for this particular location. This la fitness has 2 floors bottom floor has pool, spinning classes, basketball courts and weights, upstairs have cardio machines and fitness classes. Off the bat things didn’t go well for me, there was no paper towels in the holder and the hand sanitizer spray was not working. Get this… I get on a treadmill machine that doesn’t work. After cardio, I go downstairs and I find another holder a with no paper towels and the sanitizer also doesn’t work. What really got me going was… after I finished my workout, I decide to go wash my hands and guess what folks, no paper towels in the restroom, in none of the 4 holders in the restroom. I was a bit livid when I spoke to the young lady at check-in. She didn’t seem to care but they get a second star because I was told by my cousin when she went into the restroom someone was restocking the paper towels.
