Even at peak times there is always machine/equipment availability. Clean well run facility- but handling of crowds was my biggest concern and (aside from parking lot getting crazy at times) is not an issue at all. Only complaint is they have a beautiful turf/Olympic style cross training area (sled, power racks, box jump) that is constantly being used by people stretching, doing sit ups and/or other movements that have nothing to do with equipment contained in this area. To be fair this is more about the users than the facility- but I needed to vent.

I am writing a review about one of the employees at the Quincy YMCA, his name is Dom and he works in the basketball area. I have been going to the Quincy YMCA since I was a child, and I am almost 60 now. Most of the time I come in and get my workout done and don't talk to too many people, but I noticed that Dom was a real nice guy and he was very service-oriented and hospitable and we got to know each other. Dom really seems to care about the members and especially helpful to the kids that go there, and I see that they look up to him. He has helped me with a number of things since I have been there. Now that I have gotten to know Dom, I look forward to seeing him, and chatting with him when I workout which has made my workout a much more enjoyable experience. Because of him I have gotten to know some others whom I am sure I wouldn't have met otherwise. I just wanted to give him a quick shoutout because he seems like a good employee and person, and the type of employee the YMCA can use to help improve the center

The Y was an oasis during my postpartum. Unfortunately, if you have to cancel your membership and don't have the agreement you signed a year ago it can only be cancelled in person. I called several times and couldn't get in touch with anyone. I eventually sent an email and still didn't receive a response. Due to physical limitations I couldn't go there sooner. Which is partially why I told staff I would renew my financial assistance membership. I finally went and all they could offer was a cancellation for 2025. This was then escalated to the associate director who provided a partial refund. It's just disheartening to see the greed and exploitation from a nonprofit organization that promotes wellbeing and community. They could see I have not used their facility since 8/19 and would not honor it. There is what is written and then there is what is right. I'm just another number.

The facility is very clean and the staff are friendly. There are many different things to do, so sometimes I'll ride a stationary bike. walk the track, or another time I might shoot some hoops. No one cares that it's been 50 years since I played basketball!

Wouldn’t suggest letting your kids play basketball here. It’s supposed to be an open rec gym, but you most likely will have grown men hijacking every main hoop in the building and will yell at younger hoopers to get off of the side courts making up mundane rules that the court is for games only during rec hours and the side hoops aren’t allowed to be used.

I have been coming here for years, best gym ever. Great facility, always kept clean, good variety of exercise machine. Love the new 24 hours, able to go to the gym whenever. Love everything about this place. And oh, the price is great, too. I'm grandfathered in the $10 a month price. Can't beat that.

Planet Fitness on Adams St. in Quincy is an amazing facility. The employees are friendly and respectful. This gym is kept so clean and the hours are suitable for all people. The amenities like tanning booths, massage chairs and hydromassage beds are an extra treat. The amount of equipment they offer is phenomenal. You will NOT be sorry if you become a member. Give it a try and I guarantee you return over and over again. I actual look forward to going to the gym.

This gym is good for its spacious cardio machine area, plenty of parking, and ease of navigating the gym. At times it’s difficult getting a spot at the smith machines as those machines tend to be the most popular. Overall, the gym is fine for your basic needs. It stays decently clean and they have spray/paper towels available for cleaning. I’ve also never had problems with the staff. They’ve always been friendly behind the front desk and when walking around.

I went to the Quincy gym yesterday to sign up, but I ended up having a very disappointing experience. The service was terrible from the beginning. The staff seemed completely inexperienced and didn't know how to proceed with the registration process, which caused a lot of confusion. When I tried to make the payment through the gym's app, I was informed that I would need to provide a credit or debit card and the routing number. I asked if I could use a credit card from an account other than my bank account for the routing number, and they told me that was fine, since they only needed two forms of payment. However, after several attempts and even asking for help, the staff showed no willingness to resolve the issue. They were unwilling to help, which made the situation even more frustrating. In the end, I was not able to sign up right away. I was only able to complete the registration at home, but I had to use the debit card and routing number from the same account, as I should have from the beginning. Due to all the confusion and the completely unsatisfactory service, I decided to enroll in another gym. I would not recommend the Quincy gym to anyone looking for quality service and efficient customer service.

The woman at the front desk with the locs told me I couldn’t workout there when I have a black card and can go to all locations , she gives correctional officer vibes, no sense of customer service , if you want your day to be spoiled when you’re just trying to better yourself, go here. The staff will try to steal your energy. I do not recommend. Bad vibes.

I’ve been going to this gym for three years, and I keep coming back because it’s the only gym in the area that offers Les Mills classes. The instructors are fantastic—they genuinely make an effort to encourage everyone, regardless of age or ability, and they take the time to learn everyone’s names, which makes the atmosphere feel really welcoming. I love that there is a class offered every day and have lost weight and gained muscle thanks to that. However, the gym’s maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. As shown in the photos, the class space is not well maintained—the air vents are covered in dust, the walls are cracking with plaster falling out, and the room is never cleaned so there’s dust everywhere. It’s gotten to the point that I get dust in my eyes and throat while working out. The equipment used for the classes, such as the barbells, have been falling apart since I joined and we have to share equipment to get through classes sometimes which is a little pathetic. Overall, while the classes and instructors are excellent, the lack of facility maintenance and cleanliness is really disappointing. I’m not sure why the business has chosen to ignore a whole set of clients who otherwise are clearly loyal. If this changes, I’ll be sure to revise this post.

I joined Northeast Health & Fitness a few years ago for the sole reason of attending group exercise classes. I quickly learned that the instructors were all AMAZING as were the classes that they taught. Bonus factors were that your gym was located close enough to my home making it convenient, and the group fitness schedule meshed with my unpredictable work life. Recently, I was dismayed and frustrated to learn that I must now pre-register for group fitness classes and that classes will be canceled with less than a certain number of people registered. Sadly, for me, this will not work most of the time. My work schedule is sporadic at best and does not afford me that flexibility. Furthermore, under the recent ownership change, the membership costs were increased, however, I’m not sure for what reason? The overall experience has become increasingly frustrating. First, there is a lack of equipment available for the group fitness classes, and the limited equipment that is available is shoddy at best (plastic peeling off barbells and weights, etc…). The basketball court where the group fitness classes are held is a good size however the area where the equipment is stored is unkempt most of the time. I hope Northeast Health & Fitness will reconsider this pending shift in group class registration whose only purpose will frustrate and alienate members. There are definitely better gyms that prioritize customer service, cleanliness, and member experience.

I thought that since there is a new owner that this gym would get the upgrades and attention that is well over due. But alas, no! I've asked about new mats and exercise bands - both not high ticket items - but so far, no. I asked if the old and tattered TRX's will be replaced, no. The carpeting in the women's locker room stinks! The new paint on the walls looks good but that's not where the quality counts. This place has so much potential (hence the 2 stars) but the new owners only seem to care about security cameras and a useless charging station (out in the open where a phone could be easily snatched). Please put your money where it counts and soon!!

Can a gym be closed on every public holiday? What kind of nonsense is this? Is this a government office or something? Everywhere else is open, but this place is closed. I’m so fed up. I’m going to cancel my membership.

This place has a lot of potential but ownership doesn’t seem to care much about the state of the gym. To start, there’s only one water bubbler in the entire place and it’s the farthest spot away from all the equipment and its filter is typically not in working order. The sauna goes down and typically doesn’t get fixed for an extended amount of time. Sometimes months. Equipment isn’t greased and equipment will go down and not get fixed for extended periods. For $38 a month, I feel like things should get fixed sooner. Not to mention they charge you a 13th month “maintenance” fee and the above issues still persist. In my time there (2.5 years) the only new equipment I’ve seen is cardio equipment which I ve never seen more than half the treadmills being used at a time. Overall it’s a big space and I feel like it could be better utilized. The only positive is that the staff there is really nice but they can only do so much in this situation.

Most of the coaches are great and inspire you to push harder in your workouts! I’ve joined several other different gyms but OTF is the longest gym I’ve been committed to! I love the quality of the workouts and the variety that they offer! I definitely see myself sticking with OTF for a lifetime!

Highly enjoy and recommend Quincy coaches!!! I love the coaches - they're motivating, more than just instructors!! I also enjoy the friendly atmosphere. It's nice to be next to someone of similar fitness and push each other. The equipment is super high quality, especially compared to most local gyms. I like that they have proper A/C and fans in the warmer months. I like the heart rate monitor that helps track your heart rate, how many minutes you're in fat burn/cardio bands, your erg stats, etc. They have a phone app that track ALL your stats for every workout, it's very satisfying lol. There's TV screens so it's clear what you should be doing (in addition to the coaches lining you up). I've definitely recommended it to friends but they haven't joined due to the price.

Shout out to Coach Irvin. Great coach because I learn something every time I go to his class. Quincy location is not my home gym but Coach Irvin is great with every student that comes to his class. OTF Quincy is a clean facility with friendly front desk staff and great coaches.

Absolutely love this OTF! Each coach is so personable and have different energies that make each workout session unique and fun. Started in November and was very low on duration of my runs and now I can easily do a couple minutes faster! It does take time to see you building muscle and endurance, but the coaches and members make it fun. There isn’t any “judgement” like you have at other gyms with people watching you. Also, the front desk people are some of my favorite humans in Quincy. Thanks OTF!! :)

Very long and overdue review! Joined OTFQ in the middle of the pandemic when my previous home studio was closed. Incredibly skeptical at first and didn't think I'd be able to form the same quality of relationships at a new gym. Here we are 2.5 years later! If you're an earlier riser like me - trust me, the early morning coaches and staff will set you up for a great day. Get you a head coach and studio manager who shows up for members every. single. day. Shouts to Irvin and Shelli for making OTFQ the best part of my day 😊

I love this gym. The owner has experience in personal training and therefore knows what people want and need in a gym. His trainers come with a wealth of knowledge and work with clients to provide individualized workouts tailored to meet their needs and abilities. Multiple classes are offered for small or large group exercise throughout the day and evening. Come in and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

This gym, is the best basement gym I've ever seen. the staff is really great, the equipment is awesome, and there is a better selection at this little basement gym then there is at my current "health/tennis" club. Thelimiting factor of course, is that it's a basement gym the ceilings aren't high enough to do some of the more gymnastics oriented stuff, but for just working out it is the best gym in South suburban. Also, in terms of price and service they beat everyone.

They are awesome! I visited from out of state & they were beyond accommodating on providing me with a traveler's pass. This facility has it all. Not just your usual gym machines (smiths, cables etc), weights, treadmill etc. What sold me was the Rogue Rig, barbells, weights, sled, rope and more. The Staff were very friendly. Would come back anytime!

Found an ad on instagram for the 6 week bootcamp challenge and they had set meal plans and weigh ins. The staff/trainers were super nice and helpful along the 6 week journey. Loved the people who I did the challenge with and I had excellent results at the end of the 6 week training. Will be visiting again for next year’s 6 week bootcamp challenge 💪🏽🔥

My daughter started Taekwondo when she was 4 and has been here for a year! She’s improved so much over the year. The teachers are incredibly insightful and kind. The atmosphere of the whole place feels like a warm family. Definitely recommend signing up for classes!

Best place around! A very welcoming, family-oriented, professional environment. All of the instructors have been extremely kind, patient, and encouraging of my children from the beginning. I’ve seen them grow not only physically and mentally, but also in building self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-discipline through training, competing in local tournaments, and participating in demonstrations. Such a supportive community where other parents and students of all ranks root for each other.

We are very happy to be part of Quincy taekando. The instructors are very patient and professional, they are really helping my kids getting to the next level. We have been part of this wonderful community for more than 3 years. My kids feel very comfortable and happy to go to training here.

Quincy Taekwondo is an amazing community. I have been doing Taekwondo for around 2 years and over the years I’ve learned a lot! Taekwondo isn’t necessarily about winning and hitting people, it’s about community and friendship. Over the years, I’ve gotten to meet very inspirational teachers and they have influenced me to strive to become my best self. With all being said, Quincy Taekwondo helps me become the belt version of me that I can be.

This review is unsolicited, and as someone who doesn’t typically write reviews, I felt compelled to do so because Quincy Taekwondo has truly impressed us. From the moment we joined, it was clear that this is more than just a business—it’s a place that cares about its students, both athletically and personally. As parents, finding an activity that’s both physically and mentally enriching—and that our child actually enjoys—is a challenge. We’ve tried other programs, but none have captivated our child’s interest like Quincy Taekwondo. What’s even more impressive is how much the staff cares about the whole student, not just their martial arts skills. After attending several days in a row, they suggested we take a day off to help maintain a healthy balance. This genuine concern for the well-being of their students over maximizing attendance shows they care more about long-term growth than pushing for profits. The school offers classes for all ages, from 4-year-olds to adults, creating a welcoming, supportive, and energetic environment. We've seen firsthand how students grow in confidence, focus, and discipline. My child, who was once shy, easily distracted, and emotionally immature has become much more confident and engaged. It’s incredible to see them now excited about tournaments and achieving success that reflects their growth. The classes and instructors have made a profound impact for our child on both their physical and personal development. One of the most refreshing aspects is their focus on enrichment rather than profit. They’re transparent with their recommendations, even when it means reducing their own potential revenue. For example, when it comes to gear and merchandise, they pass on savings from bulk orders to the students rather than marking up prices. They also don’t require you to buy everything from the school. They’re happy to give advice on what to look for if you decide to shop around for additional gear. This level of honesty and transparency is rare and much appreciated. We find the school to be an excellent value compared to other schools, with flexible terms for those unsure about long-term commitments. The class schedule is flexible, with plenty of opportunities for students of all ages and skill levels. It’s no surprise that many students stay with Quincy Taekwondo for years, progressing from childhood through adulthood and multi generational. There are examples of students that are all related to each other, mother, father, sons, and daughters, etc. it's truly a family affair. With a team of experienced and diverse martial artists, the school provides a rich learning environment for all students. They place a strong emphasis on tournament training, which builds not only martial arts skills but also confidence. At tournaments (which are optional), it’s clear that Quincy Taekwondo is highly respected—other schools recognize their professionalism and the large number of students and staff in attendance. The school doesn’t just focus on martial arts; it’s about enriching students' lives in all areas—personal health, academic support, and even family activities. They go above and beyond to make students and families feel valued. What truly sets Quincy Taekwondo apart is their commitment to family. The classes, tournaments, and community events (Back to school nights, Thanksgiving dinners, movie nights, parties, etc.) foster unity and respect, creating lasting relationships between students, instructors, and families. There are a lot of options available in the Quincy area and I'm sure they're also good, but the sense of comfort and assurance we get is something that we didn't feel as strongly when reviewing other schools either in person or through other trusted friends and family. If you’re considering Taekwondo for your child—or for yourself—look no further than Quincy Taekwondo. It’s more than just a school; it’s a place where students of all ages are supported, nurtured, and encouraged to be their best. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of this community and can’t recommend it enough.

I have been to most of the major gyms from Boston to Quincy and this by far is my MOST favorite. I absolutely love the small group training classes. I am someone who is not self-motivated to do strength training. The workouts change every day, and I always feel such a sense of accomplishment that I finished every rep! I have seen amazing results in my own personal health since I joined over a year ago. I am definitely stronger but I also feel pretty badass for getting through some of these workouts!

I was looking for a gym where i would feel welcomed &’ not judge! I am so happy that i’ve decided to take the time out to visit Anytime Fitness in Quincy MA i do not regret my decision on becoming a member. Spencer is AMAZING he didn’t make me feel pressured to sign up wasn’t rushing through the tour took the time out to explain to me everything about what Anytime Fitness has to offer he listened to my goals &’ understood my aggravation lol &’ is willing to help me achieve them i certainly felt welcomed &’ not judge since then i’ve been excited about my journey with Anytime :) I have not met any of the other staff but i am sure that they are as awesome as Spencer!

The best part of this gym is the small group training. Fitness coach Hudson is my favorite. He can always modify any exercise to accommodate your fitness level or if you have a specific body pain. He watches each of us through the rounds and helps us fix our form so we are doing the exercise correctly. He always has a smile and positive energy. Along with Spencer, they make coming to this gym a supportive community. I recommend it to everyone no matter your fitness level!

I have been looking for a gym to get back in shape and went to Anytime Fitness to check them out. They have impressive equipment, I met one of the coaches that works with new members and he was very nice. A plus is they are accommodating to people with disabilities. They also have recommendations for diet needs and a cookbook as well. I was also told that my insurance might actually help with the membership. All in all, I felt that they were interested in getting me back to where I needed to be health wise. Spencer took the time to show me around the facility and explain all the benefits of having a membership. This is definitely a gym worth belonging to.

Lovely little gym and the staff is great. I love the classes (I’m not part of them but it’s motivating to be around while getting my workout on). I do wish there was a small space set aside for people to stretch that aren’t doing the classes. Everything is very well taken care of and clean. If management is ever considering new/more equipment, I would suggest another leg extension machine and a hip thrust machine! Overall great experiences and love how comfortable I feel here!
