I’ve had memberships on and off over the years at this club. This place has so much potential of being an awesome club if they would actually clean it frequently. It just has a layer of filth that could easily be addressed with a wet mop and proactive effort. The desk staff seem like they have plenty of free time on their hands. How about a quick sweep? This club has great steam room but every time I attempt to use it, I just can’t. If they only could spray it down a few times a day? Never see anyone in there as of late. It smells and the floor is dirty. It’s like it’s suffering from a deep bout of depression. I have renewal coming up three months and I won’t renew unless the management actually make cleanliness a high priority. The facility and equipment are great in terms of variety and options. Staff friendly and fellow gym patrons are focused and pleasant. Please hire more cleaning staff and a handyman to fix all the odds and ends around the facility that’s has been neglected.

Least favorite 24 hr. The fact that it is close, actually 24 hrs and the staff is always friendly is the only reason it's getting 2 stars instead of 1. The locker room and showers have not been clean since I've been going for about a month now. The seats and boards in the sauna slide all over and I've watched many people including myself almost fall just getting up. One day the owner was in the sauna and someone asked about the drain that is always clogged with disgusting brown water overflowing and he said someone else messed up part of the plumbing and it would be too expensive to fix so it's just how it is. The hot tub has also been down for almost a month now when I was told it would be fixed in about 2 weeks. Overall I'd say unless it's just convenient for the moment, I'd personally go to another location over this one

Reviews on here are right. This place could be awesome but it doesn’t get cleaned enough for the amount of people through its doors, and the hot tub? Forget about it, I’ve been with the club one year now and I’ve personally seen that hot tub out of action 6 times with the same ‘waiting on parts’ when you ask about it. The responses to these reviews say to send your issues to the 24hr fitness contact us site but that does directly to the manager of this particular club who clearly doesn’t give a crap, why would you when you have a monopoly on the area? Do better!

Fair warning to anyone wanting to join this gym: since I’ve been coming, I’ve counted no less than 6 people with no shoes OR socks on walking around. Beyond the other gross things about this gym (the bathrooms are straight up nasty with water and hair all over the floors, the overall stench of the actual machines, the layer of dust and dead skin cells piling up everywhere), this is truly the actual safety hazard everyone should know about. Good luck not catching a fungal infection since old men’s sweaty bare feet are touching the floors, mats, and machines. Not even socks - BARE FEET.

Fyi people keep whining about stuff getting stolen out of their lockers but half of the lockers being used don’t even have locks on them. If people really cared then you’d have a lock on your locker otherwise it’s a free for all and people are absolutely reckless about it. Honestly this place sucks at 7pm, so many people. People being loud and annoying, holding up machines with their stuff, and grunting profusely as they do weights. People literally talking loud on their phones and getting absolutely triggered and sensitive when you ask them to keep it down. The people that come here here make this gym insufferable to be at.

I love this location and just love Orange Theory! I have been going for about 6 months now about 2 times a week (sometimes 3). I'm am easily in the best shape of my life right now because of it. I have been searching for something like for MANY YEARS and am so happy my wife tried it out and convinced me to come with her. I really enjoy the variety of workouts, the different coaches and the people who show up ready to put in the work. It is a very open and welcoming place. I have become someone who really looks forward to working out now. I have adjusted my eating habits because of it as well. It's just all around been a great experience for me and I can honestly say it is somewhat life changing, in the best way possible.

I LOVE THIS GYM! The coaches are super friendly and motivating. The workouts are designed so that if I just show up and do my best to keep up, I get a thorough, full-body workout (strength and cardio) that changes every day. They get more out of me in an hour than I would get in 2 hours on my own. I've never felt better.

I’ve been a member off and on for a few years now. Like most gyms they definitely have ways of getting extra money out of you. There are fees if you cancel within 8 hours of a class or don’t show up. You also have to go through another billing cycle when you end your membership, so you basically need to cancel 2 months before you actually want to stop going. Once you figure out the how to avoid extra charges, it really is a great gym. I love that modifications are provided throughout class and there’s no shame if you’d rather walk than run. I can’t speak of other locations, but people of all ages attend and women outnumber men slightly at this one. Most people have conventional body shapes/sizes and I’ve never seen anyone body shamed for not meeting the same “norm” (of course I can’t speak for all experiences). The classes are pricey but I’m always the most consistent with exercise when I have an active membership here. Definitely give this place a try!!

Have been a member here for 6 months now; also getting personal training from one of the gym’s associated trainers. Love the vibes and the staff! It’s clean and organized and chill. This is a wonderful environment and everyone is cool and friendly. All of the annoying gym characters I’ve heard about must be somewhere else because they definitely don’t go here.

I feel so lucky that this gym is in my hood but even if it was not it would be worth the drive. I love the different variety of equipment and the large space for free weights and equipment like a tire, sled, ropes and boxes. The gym is always clean and the people that come are kind and considerate. Sean the owner is THE best trainer I have ever worked with. I got in the best shape of my life with his workouts. I also enjoy his Saturday boot camp. This gym offers all you need and more, well organized, and clean and in a great location. I have worked out in many gyms and this is by far my favorite!

I’ve been going to UAC for over a year, training with Grace Campbell, and I love it! The facilities are great as they have a lot of equipment other gyms do not. I don’t feel judged when I go there and I love working with Grace! She’s so fun and pushes me but also listens to what I need in a particular workout. She’s thorough and always knows what the workout are for the day- she’s very organized! She’s always there for a laugh as well and working with Grace is a pleasure and such a stress release!

UAC is neighborhood gym at its finest. Clean, welcoming, inclusive, and well-run. What more could you ask for!? Machines are maintained and regularly cleaned. Staff is stellar - friendly and helpful! They offer group and individual training sessions, a large selection of equipment and a body positive environment. It can be intimidating joining a gym esp as someone new to training and I love the community feel here. An amazing addition to the neighborhood!

Very fun indoor pool! Waterslide, lap pool, pretty strong lazy river, rope swing, fun kiddie pool area with water feature and hot tub for the adults. Great place to spend a warm summer day! Reasonably priced too! For drop ins it is $4 for kids, $4.50 for teens & adults and $5.75 for adults. If you go M-F you can do family swim and open play swim back to back from 12-3:30.

I only visited for the water part of Mt. Scott Community Center, I was very impressed. Not only was there a wide assortment of water activities, a pool, small "non-lazy river", "tornado"(which is a small circular pool that spins in a tornado fashion), a water slide, hot tub, lap pool and rope, but the entire place felt clean and well maintained and watched. There were multiple life guards watching every corner of the place, very capable of helping kids, or adults, in need. I very much enjoyed my short visit here and would definitely recommend!

Easily the best gym for those that have a passion for lifting. And confidently takes my #1 spot for best gym I’ve had the pleasure of working out at. Being the only gym in Portland for half its life, the owner has worked out there for 60 years. Most of the equipment is custom made by Portland iron workers and welding shops that closed down years ago. It has one of the first nautilus machines ever made, and a wealth of knowledge in classic bodybuilding magazines and books. Loprinzi’s is not only a small slice of old Portland, a place of local business and passionate people; it’s an honest last bastion of the golden era of bodybuilding, a place you can hardly find amidst corporatized and indifferent box gyms set up to make a buck. The owner is there every day and works out with us in between greeting guests and sharing stories about the history of the place. Thank you, Bob, for continuing to provide and maintain such a special atmosphere and culture that’s lost to us in most places. Loprinzi’s is a modern day monument to a lifestyle I didn’t think I’d be lucky enough to experience.

I was so excited to try out this no-frills gym that everyone seems to love. I was pretty put off by how cramped the space was, but whatever, I could get used to that. The real treasure was the women's locker room. Guys. This locker room looks like it's been abandoned for a few decades. Neither the lights nor water worked. The sauna is completely out of commission as well. I almost couldn't stifle my laughter; it was so unbelievably decrepit and abandoned. I felt like I was in Silent Hill. The owner seemed lovely and I'm sure if you're a dude you'll fit right in here. But unfortunately old-school also means that women aren't really welcomed here. At least that's how I felt.

Definitely an old school gym for experienced lifting. Some of the machines are not super intuitive but solid as a rock and has everything you need. Has a good neighborhood feel, great selection of free weights, a pool, and is the cheapest gym in town with a cool history.

Where to start… when I first started coming here it was nice and clean. Not the case as of late! If it was possible to leave 0 stars I would! Over the last month it has become disgusting. It doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in the last month! Locker room- Moldy gunk build up in the showers, over flowing trash cans, broken locker room doors! Restrooms - dark floor staining, along with mystery brown stains on the floor. Pubic hair and gunk on the back of all toilet seats, bathrooms constantly out of toilet paper! I would rather use a porta potty on a construction site on a 110 degree day then use a bathroom at Golds Gym! Equipment is constantly broken and takes weeks to fix. I would expect a lot more from a gym that charges almost $50 a month!

I've been a member of this gym for about two years, and it's disappointing to see how much it's declined. The lack of maintenance is concerning, especially for a facility of this caliber. The bathrooms are consistently dirty, and the men’s locker room urinal hasn't been cleaned in over a month. Tissues are always scattered around, and many of the lockers don't even function properly. It feels like the employees are just there without any real care for the state of the gym. It's disheartening to see such a once-great place go to waste. Edited: While they managed to clean up and keep the facility clean, there's still so many wrong things with the gym. Lots of machine cushions are still broken, worn out and I think it's time to pack up. Also the gym is becoming more of social place than a gym. Why am I paying premiums prices to watch a group talk for 20 minutes.

Currently updating review from my previous review below. The person (s) they hired to clean up the gym is doing an EXCELLENT job with Red Light, Tanning, Machines and Bathrooms. Luke has really put in a lot of effort in running this gym effectively and is the perfect guy for the job. As a matter a fact, I would say that every employee you have working at this time at the front desk NEEDS to stay at Golds!! They do well in there positions and are pleasant to speak with and always accommodating!! Previous review: Every time I wanna go in that red light, it is extremely filthy. The gym staff are not even enforcing that people that go in the red light clean it after. I constantly see people going into this red light without cleaning spray and towel. The last review about how filthy this gym is, I And a ton of other people fully agree because it is absolutely disgusting. When asking the employee if they can get somebody to clean that after a certain person gets out of it, they said absolutely not. I am the only staff here and I cannot leave the front. It’s been several weeks since I’ve seen a cleaning crew!!! There are tons of dust bunnies on the floor. The machines itself are dusty, and I feel so unsafe coming here. I originally joined this gym because of the cleanliness and because the equipment was in good shape However, I cannot say that now there is four machines that are broken and it takes months for them to get fixed Needs to do something about this ASAP. No wonder why you get so much turnover It’s a reflection Upper management. I would upload pictures of how horrible shape this gym is in from a sanitary standpoint But it looks like someone got to it before me.

I am genuinely am afraid for my health every time I go. The machines are worn out, filthy, and on the verge of breaking. The bathrooms and sauna are a health hazard. I had fear of being attacked by a person for the first time ever today. The gym used to be all Portlanders. It is now overcrowded with non Americans, like some kind of international hotel. I am ending my membership effective today. Let the Oregon health department in when they arrive.

Life Time has done an excellent job creating a very upscale feeling gym. It certainly does give off the vibe of a country club, and it looks and feels much more upscale than any other gyms in the area besides maybe MAC. This Life Time facility is three stories tall, and on the third floor lives all the weight equipment, cardio, and recovery gear (hydromassage, theragun, Normatech leg stuff, foam rollers, etc). The equipment is all new and top of the line, which is a nice change from the usual work out stuff I have found in other gyms around the area. The cable machines have QR codes to help understand the workout and targeted body areas, some of the cable machines even have video monitors that offer a guided workout and live breakdown of performance. The treadmills have huge video screens that offer interactive guided run types and information display (very fancy), there's enough cardio machines that there should never be a wait to use a certain type machine even at peak times. Finally a gym that understands that people want to lift weights! There's lots of power racks, smith machines, and free weights, even advanced weight lifters should find exactly what they are looking for! The second floor has a plethora of exercise class rooms with instructed classes included with membership costs (Pilates are the only class with additional fee from what I am told). There’s a nice indoor basketball and pickleball court on the second floor with signup sheets for pickup. The second floor also houses the child care facility, which looked very nice. It was refreshing to see a variety of physical activities available for the kids instead of just a bunch of TVs to babysit them. The first floor is where you will find the café, lounge, locker rooms, spa, and pools. There’s three indoor and three outdoor pools to keep all the swimmers happy, and thankfully there’s an adults only outdoor pool as well. The outdoor pool with water slides will be very popular in the few warm months we have here in Oregon, they look pretty fun even as an adult. The locker rooms are really nicely done, with abundant lockers (built in combo locks, no need to bring your own) nice showers, and complimentary hygiene products included. There’s a sauna, steam room, hot spa pool, and cold plunge pool included in both the men’s and women’s locker room. For those with families, there’s also a large dedicated family locker room. My interactions with the facilities staff, personal trainers, and front end concierge staff have all been very positive so far. Very friendly people that immediately remembered me and made it a point to come over and say hello again and check to see how I was doing. Very impressive, as gym staff are notorious for being a little… disengaged. At the end of the day, this gym is really expensive at $269 a month/$3228 a year for a single person and goes up from there with additional members on the plan. While this isn’t as expensive as something like the MAC in the Portland area, it’s also way more expensive than the run of the mill options like 24/Crunch/PF/YMCA/LA Fitness etc. Is it worth the high cost? Only you can decide, but if you are a frequent gym goer and want to take a bunch of the instructed classes the cost quickly becomes easily justified. An Orange Theory premier plan is $179 a month for three classes a week and doesn’t include anywhere close to the same level of amenities, access, or hours of operation. Barry’s PDX charges $249 a month for 30 classes and once again doesn’t have competitive amenities, hours, or space. At the end of the day, Life Time offers a full service luxury gym experience with a wide variety of equipment, amenities, and instructed classes that is reflected in the membership cost. I’m personally very excited to be a member here!

Do not join this gym. The Pickleball group is incredibly toxic. After the announcement that basketball courts would no longer be removed, the staff seemingly support members sending out unsolicited text messages to sign petitions to remove the basketball courts. Then they silence anyone who expresses any issues with these tactics. The Pickleball players feel entitled to all of the space offered in the gym and have issues whenever anyone disagrees. Apart from this, the gym is constantly kept uncomfortably warm, and members routinely forget to wipe down the equipment after use.

I had a disappointing experience at Life Time, particularly with the greeting staff member named James. He was rude and dismissive when I first arrived, making me feel unwelcome. Instead of offering a warm welcome or assistance, he responded with sarcasm, which was quite unprofessional. This negative interaction really set a poor tone for my visit, and I hope management addresses this issue to ensure a more positive atmosphere for guests.

I wasn't going to write anything about it, but after hearing more news and information about the upcoming changes, I felt hard pressed not to. With my few months at Lifetime, I've enjoyed the basketball courts to work out. Since I've joined and played pick-up or shot around, I've reached goals of losing weight and building my cardio. I enjoyed the basketball community as well as the space to see the different adjustable hoops for kids to learn and play since there aren't many basketball options in the area that are outdoors (especially winter) or open like this for me to really give my kids time to learn in a non-rushed environment. Then I learned that all the basketball courts were going to be replaced by pickleball courts. I read on threads how this has been happening across the country as a way to get partnered with Pickleball leagues. At first, I understood this may be a business move, then I sat on it and heard from a local or regional manager how the move "may lose 50 members, but has the ability to gain hundreds of new ones" off of 3 new courts, when there are outdoor parking lot of parking structure options that can be looked into replacing. That statement that was in an email screenshotted to us rubs me the wrong way, and feels disrespectful for the members that were already playing here and paying all this time. So I write this review to say not only is the membership pricey to begin with, that by adding 3 more pickle ball courts and ignoring members who enjoy the basketball space, it feels like there are targeted members... those who are able to afford a high membership price and the time slots throughout the day to play. A business move is a business move, and by seeing their responses to their recent reviews, it's all PR and management. With a new pickleball facility opening up down the block, I can happily tell my friends I would not recommended Lifetime Fitness as a place to go. Much love to the staff there who wash the towels and bathrooms and keep the facility up the way it is, it's unfortunate of this corporate decision that could have been thought of before versus changing it this way.

I used to drive past this gym on my way to the grocery store and wonder, who are those crazy people? The workouts looked pretty hardcore... but once I gave it a try, I realized you can totally take on the moves at your pace & level. And it gave me what I was looking for, which was the benefits of a personal trainer without the price. After 9 months, I'm still going strong here and loving the community feel, encouragement & coaches. Yes the whole orange zone concept helps me push myself, and the diverse workout routines make it more appealing. But what really gets me off the couch on a lazy day is knowing I always leave feeling better. Everyone is super nice & encouraging. Totally recommend giving it a try!

A huge thank you to Owner Casey, Dr. Hanson and Alexa for making my transition to the new Surge Wellness location a healing experience. After getting the complete tour from Casey, I was astounded at the amount of therapies and treatments they are able to offer in the beautiful new building. I signed up for Sports Therapy-Chiropractic Care with the talented Dr. Hanson who got me back on my feet after a low & high ankle sprain with a deep bone bruise. We have massage benefits we’re looking forward to using, as well as future acupuncture visits. And I added a monthly membership to access all the therapies & treatments like cold plunge bath, sauna, laser light therapy called NovoThor, and many others I’m still learning the benefits of. So blessed that they’ve opened at this location and brought advanced technology and great people together.

If you are looking for an excellent sports chiropractor - a REAL sports chiropractor, one who is actually educated and experienced in sports chiropractic, not a chiropractor who says they can do sports chiropractic - you will find Steve Hanson is the answer to what your athletic body needs. As an aerialist and a dancer, I am constantly finding myself aching in one way or another, and Dr Hanson is exceptional at listening to the problem and finding an answer. He’s not just all about cracking everything, either - he does a lot of muscle release techniques and provides great physio advice on ways to help address body issues. I can say nothing but good things about his skills and care. You are, quite literally, in good hands with Steve Hanson.

My experience at Surge Wellness has been outstanding. Dr. Hanson, who provided my chiropractic care, is incredibly knowledgeable. Not only did I feel better after my session, but he also equipped me with tools to improve my well-being outside of appointments. I've also had bodywork sessions with Ashley, and her massage struck the perfect balance between therapeutic work and relaxation. I must mention how wonderful the new space is—immaculately clean and inviting. I wholeheartedly recommend Surge Wellness to anyone in need of bodywork or aiming to maintain their health.

I used to do private Pilates lessons with Diana at a previous location years ago, and I recently just learned about her new location at Surge Wellness and had to come back and give it a try. I truly love working with Diana - she is so attentive to how my body reacts to certain movements, and adjusts her workout schedule around my particular needs. I'm battling a bulging disc and carpel tunnel, and after my session with her last week, my body felt super strong and capable! The facility is beautiful and all the of equipment is top notch. I highly recommend booking a session if you want to do Pilates one-on-one or in a small group with Diana, you'll get the individual attention your body needs.

This was truly unexpected when we were out for an evening walk like we do every night. As we were heading home, we noticed a small gathering of people pointing and taking pictures of the skyline. As we got higher up the street, we started to see the most beautiful colors and formations from the Northern lights. It was breathtaking to see it in the open clear sky and was worth watching it with the group of people there. We tried taking as many pictures as we could, but I had to put my phone away so that I could enjoy it with my own two eyes. I can honestly say it's one of the most memorable moments in our lives, and I hope it will happen again.

“Terrible experience! The gym is dirty, there’s no soap in the bathrooms, and the sauna is ice cold—it might as well not exist. Never seen a fitness club this poorly maintained. Definitely wouldn’t recommend!”

This LA fitness is the best one in Portland by far. Best layout, most space, most number of machines. AND the CLEANEST gym I’ve been to in Portland. They are literally always cleaning. I have never gone and not scene someone vacuuming, mopping, dusting, or power washing the showers. Cleanliness is so important to me in a gym and they are on their A game.

I honestly don't know why people rate this place so low- it's in a great location, very affordable, clean, and well managed. The staff are great, there are plenty of machines and free weights, the amenities are awesome and the hours are good too. I have been going to different gyms for over 20 years and this one is right near the top of them. I had low expectations but they've all been blown away. Also, to the folks saying the area is unsafe or their cars have been broken into... Don't leave stuff in your car! You should know better.

My spouse was robbed at this gym, they took his backpack which has all his clothes, including shoes, jacket ect while he was in the pool area. It was freezing out and he had to go home with bare feet in his swim suit. The nice kid at the front desk sympathized with him but told him they had no cameras and there wasn’t much they could do. I think the company could do more to prevent theft, like having cameras. That’s why I’m leaving this review.

Updating to four stars for the women's locker room getting new shower curtains and being cleaner. However, the chlorine in the hot tub is still so strong it makes your eyes burn just to sit in it. *** I like the gym because of the wide range of equipment and amenities including pool, hot tub, dry sauna, cardio, racquetball courts, basketball court, bike room, studio, free weights, weights machines and training area. My only complaint is the cleanliness. A lot of the weight machines are rusty and the pool area is very rusty and the pool in heavily chlorinated. It burns your eyes just to sit in the hot tub because the chlorine is so strong. The women's showers really need to be re-grouted and deep cleaned especially the ceiling tiles are extremely dirty, the shower curtains are covered in mold and rust and the bathroom stalls are very dingy. A deep clean would really take this gym from 3 to 5 stars.
