I love this gym! Everyone is great. They are truly dedicated to your success and helping you grow. The classes will kick your butt but, no pain no gain right? Prices are great as well and all the services they offer can really help you achieve your goal. If you are wanting to change your lifestyle and become a better you, then this is the gym for you. But you gotta be ready to work.

This gym is the best! I started MMA Self Defense a few months ago. I was excited and timid at first not knowing what I was going to be doing. Since I started, I cannot get enough of it! The people are amazing! Some have been there for years and others are newer like me. However, that does not seem to matter. With a mix of ages and belt ranks, everyone is there to support and grow. The coaches are very knowledgeable and only want to share their passion of the sport with you. Classes are for both men and women from young adult to retirees! Classes are skill and combo oriented in defensive and attack moves from a martial arts mix of kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. It is not just following an instructor at the front of the room. As many of us, I have my own health challenges as well as others in the class. That is more reason to do it! It is a safe and controlled environment. I have gotten stronger, more flexible, and it has helped my memory and cognitive health as well! I love this program so much because it has given me a safe place to learn something new, challenge myself, and commit to my overall wellness. I highly recommend the MMA Self Defense Class at North Jax CrossFit.

I trained at this CrossFit location for a little over 2 years and coached here as well. During my time at the gym, I watched the programming go from decent to fair (per current members the program is now poor quality and not variable). The gym followed level method programming for a while then switched to internal programming. The programming changed as the owner and head coach felt the program did not suit the existing member fitness levels (90% of which are scaled). When I trained here, I would only trust the opinion of the head coach or owner to que/coach me. The other staff are not as knowledgeable and don’t have as much experience/don’t know how to properly coach. If you are looking for a competitive CrossFit gym, then I do not recommend this location. If you are looking for a bjj/martial arts gym, I do recommend this location and working with coach Melissa or tye. I’m sure my review will be removed but needed to provide an honest opinion.

After being introduced to CrossFit in 2023, I began to enjoy the grind that the sport/workouts include. Joining North Jax CrossFit a few months ago, the coaches here have really paid attention to details, allowing me to improve daily on my weaknesses. The environment from the coaches to the athletes is amazing, allowing me to push towards short and long term goals. At this time I am only involved in the CrossFit workout but I find it amazing that they offer combative programs and also a strength programs.

I began the JYD self-defense program at North Jax Fitness four years ago. The program uses mixed martial arts (MMA), like Kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) just to name a few, in order to give you the best chance of defending yourself if the need ever arises while teaching strategies to help you avoid dangerous situations in the first place. There is a belt system in place for the members to advance as they learn techniques, drills, combos, and grab escapes that are invaluable to self-defense. All of this is done in a welcoming, safe environment. The trainers are knowledgeable and always ready to help the members with whatever they need in order to be successful. The members are friendly and supportive. After seeing how much the JYD program has helped me in countless ways, my husband and daughter have joined as well. Not only have I learned important skills for self protection, I have developed a confidence in myself that is priceless. Do yourself a favor and check them out! I am forever grateful that I did all those years ago.

I cannot say enough about Daniel and his gym. Be sure to keep good form. Even when you think he’s not watching, he is. He instills confidence in those he trains! He pushes your limits without coddling you. His technique is dope!

I came today for a drop in class (I’m from TX and have a box there). I had a great experience. It was a great workout, and the coach/owner Daniel was really nice. I felt really comfortable there and I appreciated his positive energy and encouraging words. I could definitely see myself coming back here. If you live in the area and are looking for a place I would give them a try for sure.

I dropped in this week to check the gym out. First the good: -The facility is great. -The location is even better (for me). -The people I worked out with made me feel welcome just as if I was already a part of this box. True CrossFit family folks, that's why I love the community. The bad: -The class I attended was full with 16 people and only one coach. That may be status quo some places, this is just an observation and just not what I'm used to. -I saw little to no actual coaching going on during the class. The WOD had overhead squats and there were obviously newer members there, if it happened, I saw very little feedback. I mean, I've been doing this for a couple of years and I still need pointers on form/etc. I did however see the coach have enough time to be taking video/pictures during class. -When I walked in the coach asked if I was the drop in, I said yes, I just moved here and am looking for a box. He made sure I signed a waiver, pointed out where the equipment I needed for the day was, and those were the last words I heard from him. Everywhere else I've been so far the time has been taken after class to go over pricing/plans/programs offered/etc. Here it just felt like I just needed to get out of the way for the next class. So, first impression. Nice gym, GREAT people, critically understaffed, distracted coaching. I may have dropped in on a bad day, we all have them and I understand. I did get a good workout, but I will not be using this box as my new CrossFit home.

Dropped in twice this week the coaches were friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. They even remembered me by name when I walked in for my 2nd drop in which was three days after the first time. The box was very clean and well organized. The athletes I worked out with were super friendly and very supportive. I would recommend this place to anyone I will definitely drop in again next time I'm in town.

Im in Army ROTC getting ready to go to Air Assault School at Westpoint. I was struggling with my rope climbing and finding a rope to practice on in Jax. Asked Daniel if it was alright to practice on his rope and he was incredibly welcoming. He also taught me a new technique to climbing it and it was free of charge! Strongly recommend this place, great atmosphere with helpful individuals!
